Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday denied ownership of a piece of land purportedly allocated to him by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA) in Abuja.

Media reports indicate that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the ownership of 762 plots of land in the Maitama 1 District of Abuja, citing non-payment of statutory fees.

According to the trending reports, high-profile figures, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen, are among those affected.

The FCTA had also issued a two-week ultimatum to 614 other individuals and organisations, demanding they settle outstanding Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O) fees or risk losing their plots.

However, debunking the reports, the former President stated he is “not the owner of the said plot of land which is allocated in the name of a ‘Muhammadu Buhari Foundation.’”

In a statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu, and made available to The Guardian in Abuja, the former President explained that he turned down the offer by the administration when it was presented to him.

The media aide further clarified, “When he and his cabinet members were invited to fill the forms and obtain land during his tenure in office, he returned the form without filling it, saying that he already had a plot of land in the FCT and that those who did not have should be given. He, therefore, turned down the offer

“All those jumping up and down in the digital space talking about the rightfulness or the lack of it on the reported seizure of Buhari’s land in Abuja to get their facts right and stop dragging down the name of the former president.

“As with anything Buhari—and there is no surprise in this at all—there is a lot of buzz in the media on the reported seizure of a piece of land by the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, FCTA, allegedly belonging to the former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Former President Buhari is personally not the owner of the said plot of land, which is allocated in the name of a ‘Muhammadu Buhari Foundation.

“The Foundation was itself floated by some utilitarian individuals around him who, it must be said, went about it in a lawful manner with the support of a number of well-meaning persons.

“But they ran into a roadblock in the land department of the FCDA, which handed them an outrageous bill for the issuance of the certificate of occupancy, very high in cost that did not at all compare with the bills given to similar organisations.

“It may have been that this was not erroneous, but a deliberate mistake, making the revocation of the land no surprise to anyone.

“As a person, the former President has a plot of land to his name in Abuja.”

One thing with media aides is that most of them just come out to debunk things without knowing whether it will resonate well or not.

The land belonged to a foundation in Buhari's name) that was floated by individuals around him, how come the ex-president never told them to do away with the land if he wasn't interested, this was the same thing that happened in his administration, he sent people around him including his relatives to loot the nation dry so that he'll maintain a good name when his stooges are eventually caught.

Buhari just sat down and watched the cabal and his family members plunder the economy. He was too cowardly to take charge. He however had a some consideration for the common man.

Tinubu in the other hand is the criminal cabal himself, determined to parcel Nigeria between among his family and goons. Let the opposition mistakenly take power, Seyi will be hunted down like Mohammed Abacha.

During his regime, I always sound it loud that Buhari is a clueless Dundee and a very corrupt man. He fronts people who do his dirty work while he feign ignorance. He is not smart and intelligent.
A very dulling person who in his eight years in office supervised the massive looting of this country, much more than his predecessor whom he and his cohorts Tinubu accused of corruption just to overthrow his government.
Buhari has never written any book in his life, even after serving as a military dictator or as civilian president. He has never presented any intellectual documents or made a presentation in the university, business community, international or local gathering. Since he left the seat of governance, he has never travelled or invited to make any contribution to any discuss in the public fora be it locally or international, unlike other leaders before him, even his vice Osinbajo has been moving and contributing and discussing to add to human advancement.

Buhari was a mistake packaged by Tinubu and his kinsmen, Adeboye, Soyinka and the North to overthrow Jonathan, install the mumu man who will then hand over to the present Nebuchadnezzer.

Many Nigerians don't know the evil that man has inflicted on them over the years. Buhari was the one that brought Abacha and Babangida to governance. It was Abacha that announced his coup in 1983. Babangida was his chief of army staff! These two will go on to not just become the most corrupt Nigerian presidents before APC, but also the two laid the groundwork for the destruction of the country politically, economically and admistratively.

What's more, he replaced people like Jakande, Mbakwe, Lar, Rimi and co with all sorts of blundering colonel this and brigadier that. All those daft heads in military uniforms, messed up all the good works that the civilians were doing. If buhari did not trunket the Shagaari administration as he did in 1983, Nigeria would have been much better today than it is now.

Since Buhari is not the owner, why is Garba telling us whether it was acquired legally or illegally?

It is not today that politicians use fronts to acquire dubious properties, Garba likely to be the one.

A large section of Abuja lands were illegally allocated to political cronies who didn't pay a dime
while an ordinary Nigerians is billed tens of millions for the same land.

On this, Wike is doing a great job.
