But how come when Nigerians in abroad sell something they usually package those things in a clean and organized way?
The SYSTEM doesn't give room for disorderliness. That's the difference.

Wow
Nigerians are the problem of Nigerians.

It won't cost traders nothing to be clean and kept, but lawlessness thrives here.

Look how comported and organised this market is ntori olunn

Meanwhile note

it is only a Nigerian girl you will see preparing for marriage and she only has #5k or less in her account

With a mind blowing milage
It does cost. For a place to be kept clean you need equipment (that won't be stolen) and for people to constantly keep the environment clean.

You also need reliable refuse collection. Adequate repositories for the refuse to be held and a means of storing or reusing said refuse.

All of those things require investment.

Also broke people get married the world over. It's hardly a Nigerian specific issue.

they are not Nigerians. Also things spoil faster and get contaminated easily. You also have to pass periodic food checks by a government official. If everything scatter how you wan pass the checks?

The oyinbo guy would have loved to meet a Yoruba person. Not being tribalistic but talking from how much the guy tried to relate using Yoruba language and slangs

first of all, she put them all open in a cold space. There is a reason that most fresh vegetables are put in a package and then put in a refrigerator with high humidity, to keep vegetables fresh.

Am not knocking their hustle, but it is good to do things proper. At least, she got one thing right, she paid for the stand, because it looks like a farmer's market. But then again, her quantity is like nigerian quantity - very little.

The UK needs to step up on guarding their life standards and stop playing around over there, if not, many useless countries ways will trump their own ways. They need to step up on inspections and quality.

I didn't talk about price, because I didn't see her prices.

Can't same be replicate here?
The people and government speak same language, English.
So they understand each other very well.
Hence proper things happen.

That is the normal farmers market. Whether Nigerians , Asian or brits, that's how they display their wares. No strange thing. It's diff from shops.

Whether Nigerian or Asians, that's the norm in street markets across uk.
They even call out customers like us.
If it's perishable like okro and they know that they will not sell it the next day, you can haggle price with them.

The Western world has very high hygienic standards; the UK food inspector would close down any store and fine or ban any vendor that has a market that looks like it should be in Lagos.

Nigeria has no standard. The country is just surviving. That's why numpty like Tinubu and Buhari can be president because the people are docile.

Yes the first thing that comes to my mind was the opening of the fruits, but then I realized that it is not Nigeria that is full of flys , mind you their temperature is really cold so there is no need for a refrigerator.
Trust me they knows better, you can be more hygienic Than this people living abroad, especially a market environment like this.

Praying for a destiny helper that can support me. This Christmas, I don't know how I'm going to celebrate it without having anything to survive on. Brokenness, boredom, and no family. Not even a grain of rice to cook. 🥲

Inferiority complex and low self-esteem is bad o.

FYI, it's not all markets that are like this in the UK and in this Lagos, we have supermarkets that sell stuffs well packaged, weighed and labeled. You and those in the left behind "we" are one of a kind on your own.

For those who don't know, Oshodi is a family name o, originally from Tapa but now Yoruba wink

Haba. Not Tapa people but that family that was adopted and rewarded because of the loyalty of their patriarch to Oba Dosunmu when he was banished to Epe by the British. Lagos belongs to the Yoruba and that's settled.
