Laughing At Others’ Misfortune by yoruboid(op):
This is not the first time they will laugh at a misfortune in Yorubaland and they were met with the same within a week

The big lesson here is never to laugh at other people’s misfortunes

I remember when there was a thunderstorm that destroyed houses in Ekiti, they laughed and weeks later, a village in Anambra was submerged in flood

They mocked an accident involving a train and a bus in Ikeja and laughed at our emergency rescue and triage set up at LASUTH and a few days later in Enugu, a commercial bus was totally burned to ashes and there was no rescue.

Even before the elections, the laughed at the Yorubas but we laughed last

Now they laughed at Ibadan and then…

I keep saying the Yorubas are a race that God loves and you will only toy with them at your own peril

In all, never laugh at anyone’s misfortune

You're despicable.

Nobody mocked your miserable misfortune, who are you for us to mocked? but rather, the economic hardship that drew a massive crowd scrambling for rice. If the economy were and things affordable, it's unlikely that such a large crowd would have gathered just fo rice, leading to the tragic stampede.

So literally, it was Tinubu I was mocking and his ardent supporters and not the innocent people that lost their lives. Tinubu as been a cursed to Nigerians ever since.

It has happened it has happened, you can gloat forever.

The mockery of Biafra's suffering is nothing new. I vividly recall how people on Nairaland would gleefully create threads and post haunting images of starving Biafran children, ridiculing their plight. As if this cruelty weren’t enough, they would distort history, accusing the Biafran leadership of causing the starvation. The truth? It was the callous and inept Nigerian leadership that weaponized hunger, endorsing starvation as a tool to win a war they were too incompetent to win on the battlefield—even with support from the Soviet Union, Britain, Egypt, and the Arab world.

5 yoruba owned companies are at the critical point of biting the dust, but if they were owned by igbos, we would have seen threads upon threads of a twisted narrative to project igbo economic misfortune.

I heard people died in Anambra because of 1congo of rice and there was stampede of able bodied men and women.

Has hunger reached that extent in Anambra? Where is Peter Obi?

Bro, stop the gaslighting.

The Yoruba are not known for mocking the dead, our culture and existence frown against it.

But you people were just few days again mocking Ibadan Kids, go on Twitter and see the useless things Ibo people said against Ibadan and the kids.

Now that the misfortune is at your doorstep, you are trying to feign victim. No, you must understand that misery has come to Iboland, and we shall mock them in return.

At least they died in stampede not suicide, same way majority of your brethren died some days ago. But it's rather unfortunate, that your brethren do not only die in stampede but also sûicîde because of hardship. They can't just bear the hardship hence they resorts to suicide.

Nope, the kids in Ibadan never went for food. It was a Christmas funfair, and kids don’t usually have the organization like full adult.

But your own people are able bodied youth, they were so hungry they lost their sense and perished begging for food.

Like they begged for water 60+ years ago, they beg for food in 2024 and rather, they were served by the grim reaper.

You guys must learn how to be human. That we chose to be mature and not mock people in misfortune does not give you the freedom to do same to people. This is one too many

Who is experiencing more hardship?

Your people are literally eating anything and stats show they are hungrier than folks in the SW

So what's with the high rate of suicide In your place lately? There's no single day that passes by that we do not read an headline that says "a man or woman commits suicide because of economic hardship" in your place. Tell me more about this..did the rat poison taker cursed them while commiting suicide with rat poison thus leading them to have so much joy in commiting suicide too, because their hero died through suicide. Tell me more please.

Toxic tribalism in the face of nauseating poverty.

The tribal idiots are still in love with their oppressors who are the root cause of their suffering.

Tell me what stupidity is again. Fighting passionately over tribalism when you never made a conscious decision to be born into a particular tribe.

I agree with you and it’s scary that there’s been so many suicides reported in the SW in the last one year

Here’s the proof in recent news

Remember, all these happened in the last one year and I even have more proof

Besides, I am in okija and not aware of such incidence and your reportage didn't give details as was the case with Ibadan

Never in the annals of Nigeria's history, not even before the 1914 amalgamation, has there been such a disgraceful descent into chaos and stampede over food. Not even during the civil war where a militarily weak and an inept side decided to use blockade, starvation and farm sabotaging to fight a more versatile side was there this food stampede in Anambra state or axis. This is a damning indictment of leadership and governance. May the architects of this suffering and their enablers face unrelenting judgment.

Everyday I fall on my knees thanking Jah that I’m neither Yoruba nor Igbo. See as God butter my bread. Join me brothers and sisters in singing loudly and dancing vigorously to the sounds of joy:

What the Lord has done for me,
I cannot tell it all;
What the Lord has done for me,
I cannot tell it all;
What the Lord has done for me,
I cannot tell it all;
He saved me and washed my sin.

Chorus
So I will sing hallelujah,
I will shout hallelujah,
I will sing, shout
Sing and praise the Lord.

Stampede happen in Nigeria everytime because our people are disorganized. This is 2022 in a church.

I won’t disagree that people are not hungry, but Nigeria is not the only country with hungry people.

In Italy, people are hungry and they queue orderly for food, they plan and made safety a priority.

In Nigeria, we are too disorganized to follow simple instructions coz of greed.

When fuel tanker fall, you see people running to scoop fuel even when it was selling for N65. Has it not mud multiple people but tomorrow they will still run towards a fallen tanker.

What is the difference? Both have the same underlying cause, disorderliness and failure to factor safety in an outdoor event.
