Yes, still rooted. I said cut, not uprooted. I only uproot the Ewedu. The Soko(s) are cut and allowed to grow bad. Next cutting should be in a week's time.

I think that depends on your location in Lagos. Nevertheless, it should be available in all major markets, just ask around.

I'll be there God's willing. Veggies like Tete and Shoko are real money spinner in my area. Passing through a mini market very early in the morning and you need to see the rush from those market women to purchase from farmers. 500 naira's worth and you'll count the numbers of stick you'll get

With reference to Ugu, I get my seeds at Bolade market in Oshodi. She brings the seeds all the way from Calabar. But it's been awhile I contacted her.
I do have another plug who helps out when I get too lazy to the bookings myself. And for the vegetables seeds, I do buy majorly at LASU Igando road, where you have most of the farmers annexed to Lasu fence farming. You'll get good quality seeds there.

It's good to be back on the farm. Time to exploit the merits of the harmattan season.

Thanks for this, I'll visit Igando then, closer to my base (Ayobo)

Will be trying out the vegetables in sacks

The drier, the merrier. You'll almost never want to do vegetables in the rainy season again.

Soko or Tete?

I am yet to understand why the Yorubas prefer the Efo Soko to Efe Tete. For me, vegetable is vegetables. I couldn't even tell the difference of any vegetable eaten grin, well, except for bitterleaf angry. For those who intend farming vegetables where the Yorubas are highly populated, abeg do Efo Soko (Lagos Spinach).

Soko is far better in terms of soup thickness and also quality. It doesn't loose volume and resembles more of ugu leaves than Efo tete.
I remove all efo tete from the farm and replace with Efo soko.

Spot on.

Nonetheless, my Tete market seems to be growing daily. More people are beginning to appreciate it over here. Lol grin. I'm indirectly making them have it as the only option.

That Soko ehn !! all of a sudden, it just keeps becoming more and more difficult for me to nurse on my farm cry cry. It dies off just barely a week after sprouting.

Any suggestions? @emmaachile2

Could be fungal or nematode attack. Check the roots first and if it's ball like roots, it could be nematicide related.
Soko is also weak against fungal pathogens also. Feed it well like with an npk 15-15-15 to withstand those pathogens and also look for neem oil to use it on from the nursery.

I must confess, these vegetables in this season is indeed a gold mine. Farming vegetables is veeeeeeeeeery profitable during the dry seasons. Every bed harvested gave me twice the normal rainy seasons prices. For me, the Tete was my top earning vegetables (well, the Soko most times were dapping off), next to the Ewedu(s) grin. Yoruba no dey use ewedu play oooo!!! Lastly, the Soko was fair though.

Overall sales was very very profitable.

Efe Tete

The Efo Tete (African Spinach) is just simply amazing. Two weeks after transplant with aggressive watering and, abracadabra!!! It ready to be harvested!!! It's a 4 weeks plant, way faster than the Efo Soko (Lagos Spinach) which is 6 weeks to harvest.

The only difference between the Tete and the Soko is just that I always uproot the Tete when harvesting unlike the Soko which I cut and allow branch out again. This harvesting method of the Tete always makes me have a nursing bed at all times. I am always transplanting every now and then once a bed is sold off. This could be quite tedious, then again, wetin I come do for farm before? huh huh

This like I always say depends on your location and the type of seeds you want to buy. By the way, I want to assume you are asking about the vegetable seeds (Soko & Tete) right?
