casualobserver:Must you try to derail every topic? This is not about whether he won or he didn't win. The point is that he is about to do what he refused to do during the campaign. The point is also that it is abnormal for a presidential candidate to avoid a presidential debate during campaigns. |

immortalcrown:Look who is talking? If anyone derailed the thread it is you and I put you in your place by telling you why he ignored you irrelevant, hostile and self righteous voters who think they are more important than they are and he is president today! There is electioneering and there is governing. When governing you talk to all, when campaigning you talk to those whose votes are relevant to you. |

Klington:It's not a speech; it's a discussion. The problem here is that the panelists may not ask him tough questions. I dare them to have an interactive session (where people can phone in and ask questions) like Obasanjo used to have. |

immortalcrown:all you have displayed here is the arrogance of the 10%. The 90% don"t watch these debates. These debates are for the educated English speaking mostly city dwelling wannabees to make themselves feel important and who think Nigeria is America so we must do everything they do. Clearly you still haven"t understood the message. Educated people in their arrogance still dont understand that when it comes to elections, we are not important! Election is a numbers game, people who watch debates dont have the numbers to be important and even their numbers are always split so as a demographic, the effect is Zero! If there are 1.5M debate watching viewers, .5m will vote APC, come what may, .5 million will vote PDP come what may and .5m will vote LP. You effort is better spent on the block votes who do not waiver and vote as a block. For example the ibo vote for Obi and the Northern APC votes for Tinubu. 300K Ekiti rural block APC votes are more valuable than the 1.5m TV debate audience in the last example. You will share the votes of the debate audience and not gain any advantage over your opponent while the EKiti votes will put you 300K ahead. So as a presidential candidate i will attend a debate 1) if the demographic is sympathetic towards me 2) i need their votes. Conversely I will avoid it if 1) they are hostile and 2) they dont affect the outcome. it is normal for a presidential candidate (or any candidate) to target those whose votes will make him win and avoid the hostiles who were never going to vote for him. it is a f0ol who targets 10% as the expense of the 90%. It is also a fool who goes into a hostile environment for votes he does not need. There is nothing to be gained!!! whether he debated or not, you were never going to vote for him, you only wanted an opportunity to mock him and he denied you because he is smarter than your ancestors.. Both Trump and Harris avoided debates or interviews they viewed would not help their cause. |

Olodo president. He has been found out. Dont expect anything.....as usual, questions already arranged for him and shared since two weeks ago..and answers already prepared by his equally confused advisers since last Friday. He has been busy cramming them since then. If he has gut, let him address a full open question and answer press conference......then you will understand the true meaning of gibberish....those ones he was muttering during the campaign were not Freudian slips |

casualobserver:Tinubu did not win the 2023 elections, he knows this. INEC rigged him in. So quit your bickering, if you put yourself out to contest for the highest office of the land, the least of your worries should be addressing the people you want to govern. The fact your are defending this current shit show of a government shows how morally bankrupt you are. |

immortalcrown:Conversation has ended. dont be a hypocrite and continue to derail the thread! If you like learn a thng or two, if you like continue in your foolishless and delusions of grandeur that votes of English speaking western educated, Uncle Toms that constitute the TV debate audience in Nigeria are relevant! |

uvie66:I dont know how stooopid you feel reading what you just typed but you should. Did you bother to check Arise TV audience numbers, views, subscriptions, typical views per video etc? They are not as important as they (or you) think they are! did not occur to you that most people dont have N500 for data and do you know how long a debate is? My mechanic (who charged me 400K in the end) came to fix my car the other day, I had to pay for his data so we could communicate on whatsapp. You may be shocked how many of the masses are carrying smart phones around with no data! Talk less the rural dwellers! Put yourself in their shoes, if you were in that class of Nigerian to whom N500 is a meal, and you have N500, is it data to watch election debate you will use it for? There exists a Nigeria beyond the cities of Lagos, Abuja etc. they don’t watch Arise TV. And they certainly dont watch debates! The arise news is on right now on YouTube, less than 800 people are watching! In a country of 220m, they have less than 1m subscribers both local and international. The second picture is one of the presidential debates. 2 years after and after multiple views at home aand abroad, it never got to 500k views, most of this are the educated Uncle Toms in the cities and abroad. I am sure it never got 50k views on the day! And this is what someone should waste his time entering a hostile environment for? Do a YouTube search for arise Tv and Edo debates. Most of the views are 50k, max 100k. This is the whole of Nigeria and of this how many are Edo voters? I’m sure not more than 5K. So if as a Edo candidate I have a handicap and I know some presenters want to humiliate me, why would I attend…..for a max audience of 5K? How many views did Ighodalo and Apata get for all their Arise interviews and how many were from Edo? It may also interest you to know that in a country of over 200m people, DSTV only has about 2m active subscribers. With an average family of 6 it means only about 12m or 5% of the population have access to Arise TV via Satelite TV. Is it rural people who have no electricity that are watching TV? I keep repeating that elections is not a game for sentiment and emotions but stats and figures. You go where the votes are……they are not on Arise TV!
