LandMann:
The issue is that this is a prerecorded, and carefully edited interview. Tinubu will not be asked sensible and burning questions about issues facing Nigeria and Nigerians and any dumb response he gives will be carefully edited to remove any blunders. Worse of all, Tinubu will be given all the interview questions to prepare ahead of time. Tinubu doesn't have the mental and physical strength to face a live interview of this magnitude. Tinubu is a disgrace. He ought to be in old people's home, managing his health with the stolen wealth he's amassed over the years instead of trying to strangulate 200 million+ people with poverty and hardship inducing policies.
I share your pain which would not end until 2031.

Tell him I said he’s a big failure .
You must be mistaken me for your lineage that couldn't afford quality education for themselves!

Trust me, you are backing at the wrong tree!

Your level of education at best is localized! grin

Run along and provide your slavery disposition to your master!

Must you try to derail every topic? This is not about whether he won or he didn't win. The point is that he is about to do what he refused to do during the campaign. The point is also that it is abnormal for a presidential candidate to avoid a presidential debate during campaigns.
Can you tell me extant law he breached for not attending public debate before election?

I only watched it when I realised there was a mix of private sector journalists present. The total result was a carefully calibrated session in which soft ball questions were asked timidly and tremulously. All of the major burning issues were studiously avoided. No one could dare ask him for instance if the N15 Trillion Lagos Calabar Road Project went through any prior appropriation and if that is not illegal. No one could ask if it went through procurement processes. No one could ask his relationship with the contractor Chagouri. In a real democratic society, no one will let the president rest on this issue alone. But here, there is the silence of the grave yard on it. Something that is manifestly impeachable.

No one could drill him on the effect of subsidy removal at the same time as devaluation of the naira. No one could pointedly speak to the price of rice jumping from under 10k to almost 100k and ask if that is humane. Abati faintly tried by mentioning the cry of "ebinpawa" but that was all, and it was almost in passing.

No one could challenge him on the purchase of a new jet at this time. No one could ask him about the "palliatives" given to the NASS and the N160 million SUVs they all got.

No one could ask him why prices of PMS should go up two-three weeks after a national protest regarding same.

Too many questions to ask.
You can go and ask him nah

Nigeria has been r.aped over and over again....from military dictators to political riff raffs forcing themselves into power through election violence, voter intimidation and rigging.
People that should be executed are the ones in power.

Don't you know that the Bible says that when the wicked are in power, the people mournhuh

Yeah
I know I’m ‘’backing” at the wrong tree because this tree is obviously not the sharpest tool in the box 😂😂

I can see your ‘internationalized ’ education in display . I’m sure you attended one of those Benin republic schools 😂😂. Benin republic is also international.
Nairaland is such a comic relief .

Is it normal for a presidential candidate to avoid a presidential debate during a presidential election campaign?

You have not answered this question. This question requires either yes or no as an answer.

Do you see the way the press heckles even an American President in a press briefing right in the White House? Do you see the way the British PM has to be fast with his facts and on his toes every wednesday in parliament?

But here, we serve a royal and imperial president, before whom jouranlists must sit tight and behave.
First of all, the press does not heckle the President while he is speaking. And he invites only a few questions at the end. It seems you are adding the press secretary briefing to your analogy just as you are interposing UK's PM question time which is a unique to the UK and has not been a feature of our constitution since 1966.

Trump avoided a second debate with KH. Candidates do it all the time. Politics is not WWF. Each candidate has a strategy that focuses on winning the vote.

How many voters in Nigeria make up their minds based on Presidential debate? What are the viewing numbers as a % of total population? Very tiny.

Lol. You are obviously not serious if your argument is that the President should only have media interaction with obviously subservient agencies. You are a joker. You are the type of human being who makes arguments in favor of slavery. You dont deserve freedom.
Pls read your comments again and again slowly and imagine millions of intelligent people worldwide with distinction level of reasoning are reading your comments. What will be the majority conclusion about you.

Reuben Abati of Arise TV and Thisday Newspapers is the host, the panelists include Maupe Ogun of Channels TV, Babajide Otitoju of TVC,
I love Tinubu boldness and leadership acume. Look at practical answers to most questions. He ensure Arise that said he can not face journalist is the host. I said this before when I noticed most of his ministers were allowed to go to Arise. Rufai Oseni is too small and unprofessional to be in presidential chat team, it's not GRI GRI, it's being intelligent and professional.

The answer you're looking for is capital NO. It is very normal for a Presidential candidate to avoid a Presidential debate.
Let me ask you, is Presidential debate a compulsory thing? Where is it written in the Electoral Act?
Debate is not compulsory. Of you want to listen to what a Presidential candidate has to say, attend their campaign.

Arise TV has no moral or ethical standing to insist a presidential candidate must come to their station so they can attack.

You have to decide whether you want to know the truth or win an argument. I have already answered your question. It is unscientific to assert that a question can only be answered yes and no when you have introduced a non absolute elemrnt that is neither yes or no into your own question.

I am too old for this. Go and play with your age mates.
