The intersection isn't well constructed. You can see that any vehicle could get stuck there cos the road isn't properly levelled with the train track. There are train intersections abroad where you wouldn't even feel any bump on you your tyre.

Another thing is the lack of traffic light for oncoming trains, that's a hazard so the government (NRC) is to blame for this, but I trust Nigerian authorities to always blame the victim... 😔

I don't understand why some are blaming the driver of the vehicle as if he intentionally parked on the rail track, or entered the track while the train is approaching.
The vehicle got stuck, people tried to remove it but they couldn't till a train approached.
The train driver probably assumed the track is always free so wasn't concentrating enough, and noticed the presence of a barrier when it was too late to stop

This could've been avoided. Seems like that area is a dead spot for common sense. The car got stuck on the track ... why?... maybe engine failure and definitely overload ...too low to clear the tracks due to the weight of the rice. Instead of trying to push it ... couldn't they first offload the rice? With the manpower there they can even lift the car off the tracks. But I can imagine the owner be thinking ..." if I only allow this rice to offload there will be a stampede and all will be gone." I can't allow that.. Then seeing it was stuck... couldn't someone run or ride/drive up the track to signal the train to slow down? The train driver is at fault too... from the time he was blowing the horn he should've applied the brake. But seems like he was thinking ... "don't they see me coming?... let me sound my horn ...they can't be blind ... and deaf." .... and he applied the brake at the last moment. It was only one train car ...the engine car ... no other cars to make it difficult to stop at a short distance . Will they be an investigation?...the train driver and crew grilled?..or simply blame the car owner and move on? "He should never have been on the track when the train was coming... his fault case closed."

A vehicle loaded with rice and other goods was stuck on a rail track in Lagos. Despite efforts by bystanders to push the vehicle off the track, they were unable to move it before an oncoming train approached.
Eventually, the train rammed into the immobilized car before coming to an abrupt stop.

Na fagba for Lagos be that o. See that one where he wan stop train, see where he dey stand to notify trsin when he could have gone further up with a red flag... and the train driver sef, he intentionally let the train hit it jare cos that train can stop earlier if the train driver was diligent enough or atleast the impact wouldn't be this much cos train need distance to slow down and stop.

The question on my mind no one asked is, "why wasn't the train driver warned ahead of time? Or can't they stop except at train stations?"

....except the interval between when the car spoilt & the time & speed of the approaching train made it impossible

Traffic guard is the one that will alert train that danger is on the road abi. When it comes to health and safety, the gates, traffic lights and signal boxes are very important in the train world. Don't be deceived bro.
