Good that you setting up only poultry farms in ND, Delta State to be precise . we don't want any cattle in whatever disguise it maybe called, be it ranching, reserves, or ruga. Why has the Ministry of Agriculture not thought it out all this years to Set up poultry fsrms in these areas ? Why must cows be involved & a new Ministry mustt be Set up before such can happen ? This is desperation at his peak to Grab lands of indigens in the name of ranching. Set those ranches in the North only. They have the land mass. Why is that a problem. Jihadists using Apc szates to so seeds of confusion in the future where this " Ranches" are Established.

Why the hell create a Ministry of Livestock when you have the Ministry of Agriculture. Tommorrow they will tell you that they needd sharia laws & sharia courts when they migrate to these areas like it is happening in Oyo state.



Curiously why Set " aside" 50 million for solar power for grazing reserves when you are talking about "ranching"

From which sqauare of grazing area reserves you intent to provide this solar energy ?

Why Imo again? They know fully well how sensitive this ranch of a thing is and how rumours alone has caused loss of lives and properties in Imo yet they are bringing the ranch to create more insecurity. It would have been a good initiative if the atmosphere wasn't tensed.

It's a welcome development; a very nice move. My only reservation is whether the ranch slated for Ogun should be better sited in either oyo or Osun state as Lahos and Ogun are in close proximity. Just my opinion.

Isreal has no comparative advantage in growing crops. What they are doing is simply human ingenuity, using what you have to get what you want.
Yes, they import food but still grow enough for export and most importantly they are not hungry.
I can name at least 100 crops in which we have a comparative advantage why are we not producing enough for our own consumption not to mention for export.

This is a deliberate attempt. Lagos State consumes more animal protein than Osun, Kwara etc, because of the population of Lagos State.

In order to reduce cost of production and making more ranch owners invest heavily in it, that’s why 2 ranches are cited there.

Moving animal and dairy products all the way from Kwara or Ondo to Lagos State would defeat the purpose of growing livestock farming.
Imported livestock of various species too would not travel far after being offloaded from ships which would make production costs lower.
Tinubu and his team feel those open grace ranches in outer South-Western states are enough for people of those states.

The number of beef and dairy products being consumed in Lagos alone is humongous and that’s why much of the supplies come from far Northern Nigeria. Before it gets down to Lagos, it becomes costlier.

Seeing these new ranches grow and develop would ‘ginger’ our state governors into either partnering or setting up their own because there is huge money in that industry. Meat packaging and refrigeration is there. What of veterinary and hale supplies, logistics etc?

Ranching is done on a vast area of land that runs into kilometers but not on a few plots of land.

Most of those governors were either toddlers or kids when Nigerian ranching system started collapsing in the early 70s to early 80s.
