The reintroduction of Sharia law in 12 northern Nigerian states, beginning with Zamfara State in 1999, aimed to address crime and social vices by implementing Islamic legal principles. It has been more than 20 years since Sharia was introduced to the north. I remember the state governor of Zamfara, Sanni Yerima getting all serious about the implementation and Obj was the president.

After 20 years and can somebody tell me any benefits of Sharia implementation in the North?

Has crime reduced? Has morality increased? Has standard of living increased? Have people become more righteous?

Let's take Zamfara as a case study, is there anyone who is able to articulate for me realized benefits of Sharia to the state since it's implementation.

Fyi: I do not believe in the Abrahamic religion so this is not a muslim bashing thread, just us Nigerians trying to to evaluate and share opinions.

I need to know the benefits before we think of bringing Shariah to other parts of the country.
I have always believed religion to be personal, reason I despise proselytizing Christians.

Thanks for contributing but I need answers from northern muslims and individuals advocating for Shariah in the SW.
How has Shariah benefited the North?

Does implementation of Sharia leads to less crime? Last week, more than 20 individuals were kidnapped in Zamfara and the state has become the armpit of the country. I really need to understand how Shariah has helped anyone in the North.
I would love to debate Muric in this matter if possible

Africans carry religion on their heads without ever stopping to think " how has religion improved my living conditions?"

No benefit other than poverty, greed, banditry and stewpidity

They feel more pious by following those set of laws. Their legal system reflects their moral system. What other tangible did you need. Did they promise Sharia was going to give them any benefits listed? Did Mohammed himself make any of those promises? These sort of arguments won't work on Muslims.

As a Northern Nigerian myself living in a sharia zone to be honest there are many advantages and disadvantages of implementing shariah in Your state.

Advantages ;
1. Reduced crime rate at individual level.
2. Checking sexual immorality.
3. Checking evil practice in the society like baby factory, skull mining, Yahoo yahoo, cultism etc
4. A sense of satisfaction since the people see that they are governed in their religious law and justice not man made laws. And many others that I can't able to mention.

Disadvantages ;
1. Attracting foreign backed terrorist to come to your country in the name of eststablishing a more orthodox shariah.

No benefit sir except pain, poverty, marrying underaged girls, selective justice, insecurity, terrorism, blasphemy killings, breaking alcoholic drinks bottles and collecting their VAT and miscarriage of justice.
North has farred worse after sharia.
That is how southwest too will be.
To say the truth, îslam is like a curse. If it is a lie, check worldwide statistics of extremism and see if all of them don't scream alauakubar

No benefit, their governors are most corrupt and the useless law does not affect the rich, it's all nonsense
