Many villagers were feared dead while several others injured as a fighter jet targeting Lakurawa terrorist group mistakingly bombed two communities in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The affected communities were Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa. According to locals, the incident occured around 7am on Wednesday.

A resident of Silame, who gave his name as Malam Yahya, noted that the two villages were located close to Surame Forest identified as another hideout of Lakurawa and bandits.

Another source told Daily Trust that over 10 villagers were killed and several others sustained varying degrees of injury during the airstrike.

The chairman of Silame LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, however, confirmed the attack, saying they were still assessing the level of damage caused by the airstrike.

“The villagers were sitting peacefully when the bombs started dropping on the communities. They were innocent and peace-loving people who had no any criminal record.

“It was early for me to confirm the number of people either killed or injured because we are still assessing the development,” he said.

When contacted the Spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i declined comment on the matter, saying it was not the police operation.

Whether the terrorists are using the villagers as human shields or the NAF pilots are just incompetent, I don't know, But I feel the latter is the case, No be Nigeria again?

This happens everytime, army chasing suspected kidnappers in the east killing up to 8 persons by mistake,meanwhile the suspects escaped ! They turned and blamed the community for harboring kidnappers.

Same in Okuama community, the people they have been killing since has never known the people who attacked the army.

Sadly you can't battle this type of terrorists without innocent citizens getting caught in the crossfire. The NAF needs to do better though. I hope they were able to get a bunch of the Lakurawa terrorists not just innocent villagers

The NAF cannot be exceptional when the whole country is riddled with mediocrity.
The NAF has probably killed more civilians than militants

Once again, great job to the Nigerian Air Force. They consistently target those they are meant to protect. Whether the terrorists are using villagers as shields or the NAF pilots are lacking in skill, I'm not sure, but I suspect it's the latter. Is this really Nigeria again?

It happens all over the world but they should eradicate hitting innocent citizens
Everybody knows that they will hide among the citizens so that they can say that it is the innocent citizens that are being killed.
It could be an outright lie from this paper because there is no pic to back up the claim.
