I think the respite to this, is to adopt what they did in North east, where sign post was placed at each check point where it is boldly written in English and local languages that no driver should give the army any money/ bribe, and any army that harass them should be reported to the designated community leaders who will take action by reporting the matter to military hearachy .

my friens go and sit your butt down.........the zoo police has been on southeast roads for the better half of a century..........A day cometh when you Nigerians will stop traumatizing Ndigbo.

Really, but I travel through that road with the last 4 four and didn't drop even 200 to any army or police check point because all my papers are intact and nothing to fear.

Hope you people are not doing the wrong thing.

It's a worrisome situation over there. Soldiers, police and even FRSC officials are constituting nuisance in Eastern Nigerian highways. They make the journey tedious, longer and unadventurous.

What seems to be more annoying as i experienced while traveling from from Ibadan to Umuahia two weeks ago was the driver would have to alight and walk down to bribe the officers sitting at one corner. After bribing the driver would remove the stick they usebas road block and later alight to replace the road block.

All the check points will be dismantled. It's a matter of time.

This is what you expect when the economy is hard.. hardship and hunger..the Tinubu renewed shege hard hunger economy is also affecting the police and army...there are human beings.. they have family and children to feed , pay house rent, pay children school fees ,feed their families and children ..so to survive in Nigeria nowadays is not easy..and how much is their salary...not much

Please why we have many checkpoints in the southeast more than in the north were there is much more insecurity.

Eastern Nigeria is the shalanga of the country. It's a terrible region full of shxt, parasites and the worst kind of people. Avoid at all cost.

Most armed forces people pay bribes to be posted to the southeast. They know the Igbos are not too radical to confront the greedy Armed forces personnel on the check points.
If radical persons confront the roguish armed forces many times, they will seize to extort people in the southeast.

Why is the army hierarchy pretending they don't know that all checkpoints from Delta Tate to South East are extortion points with soldiers using civilians to extort commercial drivers?

O miss Ekpa, this is really the BEST time to deal with those terrorists in uniforms.

The security agents are also in extreme poverty like any other common Nigerian ! Do you blame them ?
