AFTER 18 months in office, Bola Tinubu’s first presidential media chat gives nothing away. The President trod wearily on the old paths: the removal of petrol subsidies, the uncontrolled cost of governance, including the bloated cabinet, corruption, and a lack of domestic production. In the end, Tinubu created the impression of hope but the reality on the ground is a different ball game.https://punchng.com/a-presidential-chat-long-on-promises/

I read everything up there and the truth is quite bitter, some will read it with a tone of opposition and may likely missed the point but still, the stark reality stares at our very faces. And for the ruling party and their entourage, wastrels and stooges, everything about them was built on promises and true to their words, they offer nothing, quite incapable of fulfilling the basics. |

Presidents make the mistake of thinking that Nigeria will work without federalism; it cannot. It is an unjust system in which the centre appropriates the largest share of revenue and LGs are used to share money. In the First Republic, the regions retained 50 per cent of their incomes. |

Tinubu was busy telling stories of how happy he is that his wicked and draconian 'bolekaja' economic prescriptions have ensured that his friend, who used to ride in five Rolls Royces, can now only afford a Honda Accord, while he rides in a new, all-black armored Cadillac Escalade SUV, buys himself a new aircraft, a new yacht, engages in frivolous travels around the world, and goes on medical check-ups in the UK and France but couldn't build a world-class hospital in Lagos State. Tinubu is just a sadist. No compassion or empathy. That's why he is happy to see Lagosians thronging around his house in Ikoyi to beg for alms—the same state they claim he built from scratch. I have maintained that Tinubu's policies are not reforms; rather, they are wicked and draconian policies masquerading as reforms, unleashed to inflict premium pain, untold hardships,

The problem is Nigerians are too dumb to read between the lines of spoken words and they get angry when you try to enlighten them. Well, everyone should just carry their cross especially those who foisted this evil on us ![]() |

U were quick to remove subsidy but slow to create an alternative. Ur alternative CNG flopped badly. U said everyone shud cut down in luxury but u did not. Any govt that is not morally qualified to fight corruption Nigerian's no 1 problem is already a flop. U r building houses for judges bribing inec officials, proving u don't need d people. Pls score Tinubu on any sector we see drastic improvent Power Security Healthcare Economy Federalism Infrastructure Manufacturing For abt 522 days uve been going to work yet nothing to show for it. Yet u justify ur over bloated Chelsea squad that has failed miserably. Continue in Patience Jonathans voice |

One thing is Certain, Be it Obi or Atiku, the general disposition of anybody that gets to that position is seeming failure lurking caused by the persons environmental factor. A president should stop appointing people more powerful than he is or as powerful as he is to ensure total dominance to be able to run governance to the best of his conscience. Rolling with People who had been in the corridors of power are recipe for cabal formation and subsequent failure |

Nothing to show for his time as president. The key Question is: Are Nigerians better off than they were on the morning of May 29, 2023? Too bad that Nigerians now refer as recent as May 28, 2023 as the good old days. What a damning verdict on the current government. |

Nothing new. Bat was clearly unprepared for good governance and is more comfortable using propaganda, inducements and state strong arm tactics to silence criticism. While the tax reforms are good, I still hold the opinion that firstly, it is not fair to states with natural resources and those who have comparative advantage in agriculture. Revenue derivation should not be limited to vat where states like Lagos, Rivers and Abuja have an overwhelming comparative advantage. It should be broad based to encourage states to harness thier natural resources in a more coordinated, controlled and accountable manner. Secondly, increasing tax to 15% (100% increase) is not the way forward at this time because the government has not fully harnessed its production resources to the extent where it can be said that (1) economic saturation of resource exploration has been achieved and (2) the socio-economic conditions can carry such increase in taxes. As much as Revenue must be generated and a more equitable revenue allocation is needed, it should not be at the detriment of the masses especially when there are other viable ways to go about it. |

Shikini:Besides, the level of corruption under Tinubu will only be compared to Abacha. Did you notice how he evaded Maope's questions on corruption? The man claims that he is fighting corruption by approving 70k minimum wage and student loans, laughable! He did not see anything wrong in Nyesom Wike grabbing peoples land and reallocating same to cronies. |

Tinubu is just an arrogant failure. I was shocked when he told the story of his friend now using honda. He should be ashamed that his economic polices wrecked his once flourishing friend. |

Tinubu preaches prudence but drives a custom-made Escalade, has an expensive jet and a yatch He preaches CNG but won't go near it with a 100ft pole He says 'subsidy is gone' but he himself enjoys 100% subsidies on all his meals, travels etc He claims to be fighting corruption but most of the people he has around him have questionable reputations |
