The State governors in Nigeria collectively drag the country backwards. They are supposed to be a mini-federations helping to alleviate the people sufferings and lifting them out of penury but a group of emperors sitting on the people wealth whilst making family, friends and cronies rich..

I have been close to one of them and the inner working of Nigerian States is nothing to write home about. It's not designed to help the people but to keep pushing them into penury with open diversion, misappropriation of public funds (including the LG funds) and graft.

Governors should have conscience.

State governors are only interested in collecting free money from abuja every month, money they contributed next to nothing in achieving. It is much better we go back to regional system with semi-autonomous LGA in charge of public enterpirises, in which everyone can easily be partakers in monitoring the affairs.
