They're trying to tell us how much tax is in the UK so that when they increase ours we won't be complaining.

APC propaganda.

The should tell us what form of tax that is.
Hey psucc, compliments.

It’s not the truth… you can verify this… this person has an accumulated tax obligation which when deducted left him with that. The basic tax code is 1257L anyone outside this has done some work that he didn’t get taxed for appropriately… for this amount his tax should have been £150.05 by my calculation using government’s tax calculator… this people won’t tell you about their lifestyle that has made them broke. My guy if opportunity dey, japa.. if you don’t have any business or income that gives you 1m a month..

Bro let me tell you, everyone cannot be you. It is possible you are already doing well in Nigeria, but there are people who can hardly afford good meals in Nigeria. If they see anyone who can support them travel, UK, Canada, US etc is better for them.
When we talk about abroad, it is essentially for those who are having a tough time in Nigeria, and I mean including those who make about 300k monthly. 300k monthly in Nigeria is bullshit money compared to life in those countries.
My brother, God Almighty will continue helping His children.
The main thing is make we dey do well and live fine anywhere or wherever we find ourselves.

I get your point well but what I don't like is how many of them look down on those here as if they no follow, which is evident in his/her comment.

The current minimum wage for those whose ages are 21 and over is £11.44.

Therefore, £21 an hour (£43,680 per year) is considered a decent salary in the UK because that's what most skilled workers are making, especially the entry-level ones with 0 to 5 years of experience.

Some pharmacists and senior nurses are in this category because they are making around that amount per year.
you guys are using internet data which is different from real life

to earn 43k pounds in a year as a doctor, you need years of expereince

most doctors especially those from africa and other countries are tied to an agency(who employs them)

They are signed to a contract and these contract can sometimes pay them lower than their expected salaries

so you will meet many foreign born doctors earning lower than a home born doctor in the same field and the same number of years of expereince

I pray they do so.
They will definitely.
If they didn't, ring their customer care for explanation and they will tell you the reason why they will not pay you back or if it's an act of omissions.

8hrs per day shift at minimum wage of £11.5 presently doing full time 37.5hrs is around £1500 after tax deduction. Doing part-time 20hrs for students goes around £800 after tax deduction.

In the other hand , person doing FT has the right to do extra PT which can fetch £800 at minimum wage, calculating 1500 +800 = £2300 after tax deduction.
But in other jobs above minimum wage like Nurses, medical laboratory scientists Band4 & 5 upwards , Radiographer, Engineers can get £28 to £35 and hr rate. Full time earns between 2500 to £3200 per month after tax and NI deductions. With part time added one can get 2800 0r 3200 + 1300 after tax can get 3800 to £4100 per month.

Now rent and bills depends on individual's choice of accommodation and bills.
Last last after expenses one can save up to £2000 per month. The reason some people buy own houses in UK just after two years of relocation.
I am talking out of experience and not hear say.
So disregard whoever posted the above trash.

Even at that, 70 pounds a day is big money.
That’s nearly 150,000 Naira in a day.
that is true but that is the same daily income for a driver or a truck driver in nigeria.

The truth is that, one has to be very smart when living abroad. Yes, make all efforts to migrate abroad, but when you do, also ensure you invest back home. The small coins you would always have left, would turn to thousands by the time you send it back home and invest. Have a plan towards home cos let's face it, there is no place like home....

Your math is funny.......11.5 times 37.5 is what? 1500? You dey joke abi? That's just 431 and even if you times it by 4 to get 1725, taxes would bring it back down to around 1k. Even the extra PT that you mentioned is laughable, you'll never make that much, NEVER!

Investing back home is also very risky. Those people you are entrusting your investment in the care really don’t mean well for you. You may get killed at the slightest opportunity

Don't mind the guy. After I placed an online order from a supermarket in Barbados, I was charged $10 handling fee. I was livid.

The truck driver who did the delivery said the $10 is for the supermarket worker who took a basket and picked the items from the shelves to make up my order. The driver now said...you must be a Nigerian. I said yes and he smiled. That it is usually Nigerians who usually inquire about that handling charge as it is not a norm where we come from. We both laughed it off and shook hands and he left.

But I was left with a very serious message: nothing is free in the white man's land.

So when the guy said an American will dash out $100, I just laughed. He has not been initiated.

How will tax bring 1725 to 1k ? at what % ? For instance tax is 20% normally if you earn above 1k by UK law. The total deduction from that 1725 will not be upto 400 ,highest 300+ , at then end take home about £1400. A part time earning less than 1k gets less than 20%, as per 20hrs per week.
But if its extra hustle for someone earning FT pay in another job then gets that 20% tax.
