Hello 🤩 everyone...
It's been a while here... I was banned some time ago and got used to staying off nairaland
After vacation, I travelled to my hometown to spend the holiday season with my family..
My mom is a business woman, she sells mostly farm produce i.e they buy directly from the farm and sell at the market
Two days ago, she came back from the market with this huge bunch of plantain
She asked me to guess the price, and I told her that where I am coming from, you cannot get this less than 7k to 8k
But she told me, she got it for 3000 and ll resell 3500
But why, I asked, she said she doesn't like placing much profit on her goods, because if she sells at a huge profit margin, the final consumer ll suffer for it
Most times, her customers are from ibadan and lagos
Most times, they buy at very cheap price and sell high
I wish we can all emulate her goodness, the world would have been a better place to be
May God bless her and put barka in her business
Are you people Togolese?

If the plantains are mature, then that's quite cheap...!

But, if they are not (if they were harvested too early), then that would be 3500 down the drain.

Nigeria and Nigerians would have been better off if your mom had adopted and trained that orphan called T!efnubu.
She would have succeeded in instilling or even installing some empathy and sensitivity in him.

Let everyone try and plant something to eat, food will be cheaper in the country. Go back to farming. Thats the solution.

Let me ask you please, does she do it as her main business, a side hustle or as a pleasure?
Re: See The Plantain My Mum Sold For 3300 by Mummyfour(f): 4:20pm On Dec 27, 2024
May God bless her and bless her hustles. And may she live long to enjoy the fruits of her labour. I have a thing for plantain sellers because at a point in my life, I did the business but I was loading J5 of plantain from edo state to zuba Abuja. Along the line I had to stop the business for a lot of reasons.

The plantain is cheap for that amount, if you consider how much you can get it elsewhere

That's the thing, some of the resellers think villagers to be stupid, where they go to and buy things at cheap rates and resell at ridiculously high amount.
Ask them now and they will blame it on transportation

After selling her own cheapy cheapy, hope with the money she makes she will be able to buy rice. Beans, fish, meat, eba, garri, fufu, Amala, palm oil fruits and even transportation cheapy cheapy.

While her kind heart so is good but is not good for business. I'm not talking about exploiting people here but moderate gain.

If she actually bought at 3k and sold for 3,500

She must have sold at lost price without her talking note. Didn't she go to the farm with transportation, even if she used her leg to go, her t fare suppose to be factor in.

She is good woman and I hope you emulate her good heart but in terms of business she should be putting all cost into consideration and add little margin as her profit.

Greet Mama on my behalf.

May God continue to strengthen her.

Na you de overthink am.

We are in plantain season, they will definitely be cheaper in remote locations than urban areas.

Your mum understands that if she decides to sell over a certain price she will end up not selling at all.

Hug mama for us
You are in plantain season ? Can you get that to buy for such a low price elsewhere . Learn to appreciate good hearted people . Stop being bad and ungrateful.
