For your info, I am from Delta state. I detest this selfish call for Southern unity. Where were you and your cry for Southern unity when thesame Tinubu ganged up with the North against our Son Jonathan to inflict Buhari on us for his selfish interest?? Now that they have damaged the country and gained power you have joined to call for Southern unity. You better open your eyes. Justiceleague1: |

lamentor78:I didn't even realise census is next year. That is going to be a good point to seriously take the Northern cabal head on. In the olden days in the North, the head of the household refused his wife and children to come out to be counted and he gave the Census officer an inflated number. That number is then collated and used for a lot of things included distribution of central monies as well as for determining how many reps and senators going to Abuja. Who knows, there might even be more Southerners than Northerners. |

didymario7:If that's the case, then it should be expunged from the tax reform bill. This one is anti people. It's almost like taxing money gifted to someone. There's no logic in it at all. Moreso what if that money in the bank is a joint account with wifeand she's still alive? |

You talk like a child. Where were you in 2015 when Tinubu ganged up with thesame North to vote out President Jonathan. What happened to your call for regional interest?? after they have succeeded in inflicting Buhari on the Country and gained power, you blindly join them to clamor for regional interest. make u no open your eyes you hear. Dey talk like person wey no get sense. shiffynaani: |

The Tax Reform Bill has a catch. And the catch is the fact that Lagos State will be the biggest beneficiary, and you know who controls lagos state. Stretching the logic further, Tinubu simply introduced this bill to enrich himself the more. This is just the simple truth. Does it make any sense that a product or service that is produced in State A and consumed in State B, only State A will receive accrual from VAT? Like I have repeatedly said, Niger Deltans are the biggest "maga" in this contraception called Nigeria. Their docility is sickening and nauseating. The governorrs, senators, rep and State Assembly members should draft separate bills: "Environmental Degradation Tax on Oil Extraction" taxable on every liter of crude oil mined in thier region and "Environmental Degradation Tax on Oil Refining" taxable on every litre of oil refined in their region. All oil firms both govt. owned or privately owned must be made to pay the tax. Since Tinubu thinks he is smart, other regions should also find ways to introduce tax system that will benefit them using what ever they have. In summary, the entire region's resources was used to build and develop Lagos as a former capital territory as is the case with Abuja of today. Now entire nigerians are being proposed to be paying Tinubu VAT. That's very wrong! If the subservient senators allows this to scale through, then they should all hide their faces in shame. That bill represents the interest of Tinubu only!!! |

aswani:Is it Southerners that will conduct census in the north? As long as the census officials in the Northern are Northerners, just add extra 100 million Northerners to nigeria population. If the south like, let it not add 200 million |

Justiceleague1:That section 77 he mentioned is not fair even amongst us down south. ..when you buy something from an online shop like jumia . The VAT goes to Lagos though you are based in Bayelsa This needs to be properly debated in how to share such revenue |

nedu666:A good point so hopefully there are people already thinking up ideas, in the Census organisation, to ensure sanity is brought to bear in the process. Things must change as the wrong, backward inclined, people have been too influential up till now. |

I know they will knock the president on the tax bill because they are very lazy and they are not ready to do anything other than collecting allocations every month and share it among themselves and they are also in illegal mining to enrich their lives and their family |

RecessionistPMB:Why can't you read and understand? Why misinforming people here? To he Bill is trying to correct what you just typed up there! VAT will be charged based on where goods is consumed and not where goods are produced. Lagos VAT revenue will reduce because if this reform. Example, VAT deducted from calls made from an MTN line in Kano state will be remitted to Kano state, and not to Lagos where the headquarters of MTN is |

Justiceleague1:T-Pain is not greedy and that’s why he wants you to work harder, suffer more to pay increased taxes for greater luxury for himself and his entourage. T-Pain has already dismantled and broken your brain to insert excess stupidity. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will spend N9.36 billion on local and foreign travels as well as refreshments in the coming year. |

You’re spot on, quite familiar with your history & make your solid points without resorting to mudslinging, I must commend you! However, I like the fact that they’re not on the same page with him; if he doesn’t win, it’s an answered prayer to many Nigerians who have been impoverished by his policies. If he does win (and that’s a big IF), however, he would’ve succeeded in creating a template for future politicians of southern extraction on how to deal with the northern political elites; these guys (northern political elite) have always held southern presidents by the jugular especially when they don’t have their way. Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Sen. Ali Ndume & co. spitting brimstone and fire in this dispensation isn’t any different from what then Governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) & Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) did to Jonathan when he refused to heed their warnings not to contest for President in 2015. Nonetheless, whichever direction their fight goes, Nigerians should be the biggest winners, I believe. Xisnin: |

Dvdpity:So that the south can be ruined by people like Tinubu, Peter Obi, Wike etc ![]() [quote author=NLCreator post=126854133]Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly. There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers. Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million. The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”. While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use. “Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said. “Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office. “So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.” Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future. https://www.thecable.ng/theyre-for-official-use-obi-defends-purchase-of-n160m-suv-for-lawmakers/amp ] |

Tinubu, we are behind you despite our political differences. The tax bill reforms must be passed. Rain or Shine. North created shari'a states to disturb hardworking states generating the funds. They also created Boko Haram insurgency to gauge money from national Till. The south continue toiling to Keep the nation going but the North don't bother. Religion is what matters to them. Causing problems for any leadership. Making their region no go area with their supporter of APC Islamic policy. This is the time to settle once for all the hewers of woods syndrome. The tax bill reforms must be passed! |
