Christmas Controvasy :how I Changed From Not Celebrating Chrstmas To Celebrating by Speaklove(op): 11:56am On Dec 28, 2024

Ha!
Chrismas is a pagan Holiday!
It was a day designated for the celebration of an ancient pagan god .
The first church never celebrated it !
It wasn't mentioned in the bible !
Bla Bla Bla bla bla .....

These are some of the arguments.

I had formerly upheld these thoughts before.

In fact I once believed that any anyone celebrating Christmas were sining and could possibly end of in hell .
I am a kind of person that doesn't always agree with a thing because the majority said it's okay or true .
I am too conscious of threading a path of error when it comes to my faith and relationship with God .

How did I end up believing that Christmas was a pagan celebration and a sin?

: I heard it was a pagan celebration from others.
secondly I never read it anywhere in the bible that celebrating Christmas is a sin .

Even though I found out that there is truly an historical record of how a pagan holiday was abolished and then was replaced with Christmas.
but then ; how does celebrating Christ on that day becomes a sin or unscriptural practice ?

Hmm.
did you know that nobody came to explain to me that Christmas isn't a sin ?

Did you know that nobody came to explain to me that instead of Christmas being a sin because it was celebrated on that day(December 25) it is instead a victory for the kingdom of God.

Then how did I came to that conclusion ?
How did I suddenly had a change of mind ?

It was the work of the holy spirit .
He was the one who enlighten me to see that
Instead of celebrating Christmas on December 25 (or any other day )being a sin ; it is instead a victory for the kingdom of God.

How is it a victory you may want to ask .

The day was said to be a day on which a pagan god was celebrated right?
But it was then adopted as a day to celebrate Christ ,Christ is the one being celebrated on that day .
The day wasn't created by that idol (or identity that was formerly celebrated )
The people who celebrated the idol weren't created either by that idol .
It was god who created that day (every December 25 )and the people .
,so the people abolished the worship of that idol and magnified Christ .

I know that it could have been better if we know the exact date that Christ was born and then celebrate him on that day .
But our focus should not be the date but the person and the essence of his birth .

Do yo know that it was never mentioned that Christ entered the synagogue and worship on Sunday ?
But most of his followers worship on Sunday .
Sabbath is Saturday not Sunday .
So wouldn't it be a sin to make the most special day of congregating Sunday instead of Saturday ?
But Jesus has solved this issues .
He said Sabbath was man for man and not man for Sabbath .
So December 25 was made by God for men not for that so -called idol or whatever that was said to be formerly venerated on that day .

It is not about the day but about the essence ,the impact and the person .

There is this prayer we do pray which says
"Thy kingdom come ,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven "

on that day which that idol or pagan -god was celebrated on earth befor now which is said be December25 ;
Is it a pagan god that the angels in heaven are worshiping ?
The answer is no .
It is God whom they are worshiping ,so when we celebrate Christ on earth December25 even the angels in heaven also will celebrate him that day for it is written "
Matthew 18:18
[18]“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

So our focus should be the person and not the day
It is because some of the early Christians thread this path of celebrating days instead of a person that Paul was grieved that he wrote to them saying in
Galatians 4:9-10
[9]But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?
[10]You observe days and months and seasons and years.

Our lord himself gave this reply to the Pharisees when they confronted him about a day, for they are more concerned about the day and not the person who made the day
That he reply them when they said

Mark 2:24-28
[24]And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”
[25]But He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him:
[26]how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?”
[27]And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
[28]Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Because a pagan god was once celebrated on Christmas day doesn't mean every December25 belongs to that pagan god or means no other person should be celebrated on that day .
I do not know wether Christ was truly born on December25 but I know that it was through Christ that each days were created ; for my scripture tells me :

John 1:1-3
[1]In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2]He was in the beginning with God.
[3]All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

All things including all days were made by him and for him ,
not only by the day that he was truly born ,so I will worship him every day including the days that idols were worship .

For everyday was made by the son of man and for the son of man ,and not son of man made for days .
For the son of man is the lord of Christmas and the lord over every other days that idols and false gods were worshipped

My last points

The apostle Paul said
1 Corinthians 8:4-6,9
[4]Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
[5]For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),
[6]yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
[9]But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.

So if you think Christmas is a sin then it is a sin to you .
and if you think it is not a sin it is not a sin to you .
Only do not judge those who celebrate it if you don't celebrate it.
And don't make those who don't celebrate it stumble in the faith if you celebrate it
Let our difference end us all in unity.
For the body has different part with different objective but the body is one .

Let us unite in the body of Christ and give no place for division not minding our difference for we are a people from different nations ,cultures ,languages and philosophies but are now baptized into one body which is the body of Christ .
And the prayer of Christ was that we be one as he and is father are one .

The apostle Paul admonished us he said
1 Corinthians 1:10
[10]Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

This should be our mindset
And I bless the holy spirit for leading me torward this path.
for at the beginning as I was written this sermon it was targeted against a group of people but at the end he took control of me and end it in unity instead of creating criticism or division he has brought oneness to the body of Christ by this write up .
Father I repent for my former motive please forgive me and perfect this mind of unity which is in christ jesus in we your children
.amen
This write-up was inspired by the holy spirit for the edification of the body of Christ .
Amen.

Thank God you later came back to your senses grin

Those arguing that Christmas is a pagan holiday not worth celebrating are plain ignorant and displaying their fanatism to the world.

If you say Christmas is pagan because of its origin why not jettision every other thing that has a pagan origin?

To be honest, many of the things we know and do today all have pagan origins as we Africans prefers to call it.

The days of the weeks are named after gods of millinias ago, same with the days of the month. Some medical breakthroughs we have now all stem from the so called pagan origin... Even time as we have today, drumming and clapping etc were majorly from the so called pagans grin

Initially a year is made up of 9 months, meaning a new year starts around March this is because according to the ancient Europeans the winter period from December to February are considered as wasted periods because no one goes to farms and people are largely unproductive then but subsequently the months were added and till date we still have them.

The way we practice religion in Africa always obfuscates our reasoning.

Try and follow Fada Chidi Angelo Unegbu on Facebook and enjoy more enlightenment about humanity. That's just the kind of teachings we Africans need.

It's truly hard to leave paganism since the trinity and vicarious atonement is also paganism!

Just accept everything together!

Christmas, New year, valentine's day, Easter Halloween,...., Egungun festival, ọrọ day, Ẹyọ day, Amadioha day,...
