Video Shows Senator Saliu Mustapha's Christmas Billboards Being Dismantled in Ilorin A video has surfaced online showing the removal of several Christmas billboards belonging to Senator Saliu Mustapha, a prominent figure in the state. These billboards, strategically placed across key locations like Taiwo/Unity Road Junction, Police 'A' Division, Maraba, and the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport exit gate, were meant to spread Christmas cheer. However, just hours after the senator announced a massive donation of ₦500 million for the construction of a pavilion at the Emir of Ilorin’s palace, some of these billboards were taken down. Now, why is this causing such a buzz? Let’s rewind a bit. Senator Mustapha, who is the Turaki of Ilorin and represents Kwara Central at the National Assembly, made this donation during the 59th Annual General Meeting of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU). At the event, he also pledged ₦25 million to end the use of rented canopies for union meetings. Other key figures made significant contributions, including Ambassador Yahaya Seriki with ₦100 million and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who promised to complete all ongoing projects. But back to the billboards. A viral Facebook video captured individuals dismantling one of the senator’s signs displaying his Christmas message. This has sparked widespread speculation, with some political analysts attributing the act to internal conflicts within the ruling APC. With the 2027 elections approaching, many see this as part of a deeper political rivalry between Senator Mustapha and the state governor. Interestingly, Mustapha’s media aide, Andulkareem Alabi, clarified that the state government was not involved in the incident. Instead, he attributed the removals to “hoodlums” and logistical issues. According to him, one billboard was removed due to ongoing construction work, while another was taken down because advertisement fees hadn’t been paid. The situation has drawn reactions from the public. Some Facebook users believe this is a politically motivated act, with one commenting, “This is pure jealousy.” Others called for peace and urged law enforcement to investigate and prosecute those responsible. A user named Abdulhafees Tosin Sulyman stressed, “All we want in Kwara is peace, and let the people’s choice prevail.” So, what do you think about this development? Is it just politics as usual, or does this reflect a deeper rivalry brewing in Kwara State? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to GlimpseTV for more updates on stories that matter! Summary: A viral video shows the removal of Senator Saliu Mustapha's Christmas billboards in Ilorin, sparking speculation of political rivalry within the APC. While some blame hoodlums, others link it to unpaid fees and construction work. Public reactions call for peace and justice. ![]() Deep down, this is religiously motivated. There are many fanatical Muslims in ilorin, but what's curbing their excesses is the Yoruba liberal blood in many of them,if not their own extremism wud hv been worse than sokoto. Nobody wan tell me those bill boards were removed due to tension between the sponsor and the governor. The same governor that's in his second term? It's obviously d handi work of those alakatakiti esin, like my mom wud say |

Point of correction Banners on the billboard removed not the billboard. Kwara signage agency should see to the matter. |

Something is brewing in that region about politics and religion. This looked like a calculated attempt to stir up religious sentiments. A lot of hate related acts against Christians happened this Christmas 2024 period and we may see more in coming years. Whoever removed that billboard didn't fight the political battles well because this is festive period and it will be tagged a religious witch hunting. Nevertheless Ilorin hasn't done well with religious tolerance. See as they disturbed Isese Traditional Festival acts in 2023. So all is adding up that religion of peace is of piss. |

Why should religion swallow up the culture and language of a people? Will there ever be a time Yorubas will take back Ilorin? I mean, the aboriginal Yorubas in that place. The culture etc? That victory will certainly be a sweet one for yhe Yorubas. |

DatNiggaDaz:So anything related to muslims and Islam should be removed from states like Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom etc because they are Christian states and majority worship Christ and not Mohammed. Some of you just conjure up every shit to defend nonsense or form a framework for nonsense to exist. As long as there's ONE CHRISTIAN in Kwara state, they have no right to remove the Christian billboards |
