Abuja Residents Plunged Into Darkness Due To TCN Maintenance by lagostrendboy(op): 2:34pm On Dec 28, 2024
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced planned power outages in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Saturday and Sunday due to maintenance work on transmission lines. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In a statement released on Saturday, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, explained that the outages are necessary to enhance service delivery. She detailed the schedule, stating that Gwagwalada and surrounding areas will experience a power outage on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as engineers perform maintenance on a 60MVA power transformer and its associated switchgears at the Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., another maintenance exercise will occur at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation. This will affect power supply in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.

Mrs. Mbah appealed for understanding, emphasizing that the maintenance is crucial for optimizing power equipment performance.

The statement reads:
“TCN wishes to inform the public of planned maintenance work at two transmission substations.

“On Saturday, December 28, 2024, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., maintenance will take place at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation, resulting in a power outage in Gwagwalada and environs.

“On Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., maintenance will be conducted on one of the 60MVA transformers at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation, affecting power supply in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.”

TCN apologized for the inconvenience caused during this festive period, stressing the importance of the exercise for reliable power delivery.

Is Wike the first minister of FCT?
When previous ministers looted the FCT dry with less or nothing to show for it none of you said anything, because it's your nemesis now he has to turn Abuja to Dubai in 2 years. Clowns

By the time you hear the cost of building solar farms, na you go still scream Pass. Do you know the cost of solar panels, deep cycle batteries and inverters? Do you know the cost of those items that is capable of powering the whole of fct?

The past ministers of fct, what did they do that Wike should now do everything in fct?

The same plagues us here many states away. Thank God for solar. Due to dirty panels and the challenge in reaching where they were installed, I have to call the technician for unnecessary maintenance. Rainy season, problem. Dry season even get him problem.

We've been having uninterrupted power in Abuja for the past week.
I'm surprised seeing this news as the light went off just few hours(+/-2) ago after days of having light.
I believe there is an improvement in the power sector lately taking my area(residence) into consideration.
Kudos to the relevant authorities on the improvement, while hoping for the improvement and generally 24/7 supply nationwide.

But on a serious note, this light do consume unit.
