Since they announced the reduction, many Fuel stations along my axis have refused to reduce the pump price. You begin to imagine what sort of people are we as Nigerians. Let them announce an increase tomorrow, these same fuel stations will immediately increase the price before saying "Jack."

What a country and people!
I don't own a filling station, but I know the commonsensical thing to do is to exhaust old stock before adjusting price. What is the function is SON in Nigeria?

This is one of the reasons I always try to buy petrol only from original NNPC filling stations.

Thankfully I live in Lagos and we have plenty of NNPC filling stations here grin
But the current problems are being experienced at NNPC and MRS filling stations.

Except there's a cute scarcity

I never buy fuel directly into my car

I would rather buy into 30 liter kegs at trusted NNPC pumps to see exactly the quality and quantity

Good enough, there are more than enough NNPC outlets in my hood but the best of them is NNPC Fola Agoro with correct pump dispenser, also NNPC Bajulaye, NNPC Bariga

You see that NNPC Palm Grove eh!

Don't go there!

This is one of the functions of the NMDPRA, but they busy collecting bribes. 80% of the PMS stations in my vicinity have rigged pumps

Those fuel attendants should have a special place in hell.

Before now, 15k fuel will fill up a car but it will cost you almost 80k to fill up. Yet, those attendants fleece you of your money and still expect tips.
Nobody is checking anything in Nigeria!
The Petrol Stations ,in Collabo with Petrol attendants and Managers, are thieves, because that is how they respond to Corruption,in that Sector!
The Govt have closed their eyes to this evil thing and in some cases, instead of outright Sanctions, the Officials just Collect egunje and walk away!
Very Shameful!

Re: Petrol: Motorists Lament Filling Stations Fleecing Nigerians With ‘rigged’ Pumps by nedu666: 6:40pm On Dec 29, 2024
The solution is simple. Carry a 10 ltr can and funnel inside your car. As a policy I don't allow fuel to be dispensed into my car from the noose. I buy it in can, pay, park close to exit of fuel station and pour the fuel into my car. I also mark where 10ltr reach for any station I visit. So you can see a mark and bonus written on it. I can't allow you to pump air into my car and still pay for air

Greedy Nigerians, the reason they bitterly criticize the government is because they're not in the corridors of power to embezzle and steal as much as they wanted. If they had the opportunity, they would do even worse. Same is the artificial inflation of food prices whereby greedy traders hoard foods stuffs and increase prices indiscriminately. Then everyone throwing sticks at the government.

Very well said, sir. I also considered the economics behind that. However, you begin to doubt that when you notice the same rules don't apply when prices soar. They don't wait to sell old stock at the old price, but immediately start selling at the higher price.

I believe you meant to say FCCPC.

every businessman is tailored to maximise profit at all times. This is whr the relevant agencies come in. No agency in Nigeria is effective, you only get to know of them when a major disaster happens.

Whr is consumer protection in Nigeria?

It is due to lack of money.
If not, you can do away with fuel.
By buying EV ELECTRIC VEHICLES.
We will get there.
Fuel days are numbered in this 21st Century.

Mrs has one of the best meters. I wonder why this write up is trying to demonize them. Maybe it is because some people are not happy how they crashed petrol price

NNPC has joined them .
They rig their pumps very badly .
The enticement was the lowest price they sell,so people won't be too bothered...and they also have a no keg service policy to further hide their fraudulent actions.
Now MRS has taken over the show due to even lower prices than NNPC.
Queues that was prevalent in NNPC has now transferred to MRS leaving their stations almost empty.
It's better to visit independent fuel marketers..
It might be costly but you'll get quality fuel dispensed at the correct volume

When there's corruption everywhere you look, and you're struggling, you may start to feel like the only way you can survive or get ahead is to do the same.

I'm not saying that makes it okay, but I think that's often the cause of these things.

This reminds me of how China has this problem. Scamming everywhere. For example, when Chinese people buy with cash, they always pay close attention and carefully examine their change because if you don't, people will give you fake money.
