Really top tier horror flick.... What started slowly as mystery thriller, builds up into a cat-and-mouse survival horror story about two Mormon missionary sisters who go out to spread the "word" but unfortunately knocked on the wrong door.

It's a slow build up to real deal while navigating through religious beliefs, faith and human interpretation of their religious books and teachings.


I love this take on the genre and is a nice change of pace of the usual horror storytelling style. This one subverts expectations using religious themes by challenging religion from the standpoint of an atheist— hence the title, Heretic.
It's an intelligent challenge and questioning of the various religions in the world and its dogma. A questioning of faith, belief and what's real. A witty introspection of people's practice of religion based on their own personal interpretation and ideals. And cultural impacts influencing religion.
Numerous smart questions here posed, why is your faith the One True Religion.

I'd say Hugh Grant really gave one of the top best performances in the horror genre this year. A memorable performance from him portraying the mysterious methodotical Mr Reed who's a religious cynic. Kudos to the two female leads as well for being the lifeblood of the story.

It also has really good dialogue....in fact the whole working action in the movie hinges on the dialogue, to progress things and give you an understanding of what's going on. Probably the best dialogue in the horror genre this year.

It's an unbelievably good year for horror.

James Gunn already addressed CLAYFACE and THE BATMAN II being close....he said CLAYFACE was in the DCU and doesn't really matter.

On Matt Reeves saying he's close to finishing up, still doesn't mean he's done with the work. No one is planning shooting and editing on "I'm almost done with it".
Robert Pattinson is in high demand and has other projects too. So if script is taking too long it disrupts previous plans on shoot time. Also take note the 2026 release was set over a year ago hoping pre-production would be wrapped up in time.
The Batman II was originally set to release in 2025 in case you all have forgotten. Then it was pushed to 2026 and still Matt Reeves continues to disappoint.

The star, Pattinson is set to play a huge role in Chris Nolan's THE ODYSSEY which starts shooting early 2025. So there's no way he makes it in time for The Batman II to get shooting, editing, VFX and sound and marketing ready before October 2, 2026. Batman II is planning for a late 2025 shoot which will most likely spill into 2026, so that October release doesn't look feasible.

Well I just hope that they stick to the date this time around, and I hope that Gunn will allow Matt do his thing and not merge Battinson into the DCU, we need a separate Batman for DCU
