This was disclosed by the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari during a tour of the facility on Monday.

Before the tour of the facility began, Kyari was seen addressing the team, saying “We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real,” Kyari said.

Among the tour team was the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmen.

Located at the Ekpan, Uwvie, and Ubeji, Warri, the Petrochemical plant produces 13,000 million tons per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black.

Commissioned in 1978 and managed by the NNPCL, the WRPC was built to supply markets in the south and southwest regions of Nigeria.

If true, then it is great news.

Better to announce success than to announce plans for success and provide opportunity for sabotage by inglorious bastards.

It is now time for President Bola Tinubu to fix our electricity where many have failed.

If done, we will all beg President Tinubu to go for a 2nd term, and transition from Emilokan to Iwolokan.

The Warri Refinery in Nigeria has officially gone live, now processing 125,000 barrels per day (b/d). This marks a significant step in Nigeria’s effort to enhance domestic oil production capacity, reduce reliance on imports, and boost the country's energy security. The refinery’s reopening is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and create job opportunities in the region. This milestone also reflects Nigeria’s ongoing investment in revitalizing its oil infrastructure.

In October, NNPC stated that they will commission it in 2025 mid-year.

So I’m pretty sure they will commission this very soon ahead of schedule.

They will probably start the test run since it’s not 100% fully completed. Not sure why Channels TV said it’s live.

But there will be clarity in the next few days.

Yes, Electricity need to be fixed but that one will not be easy especially when you have subsidy still involved which is deterring private investments in it.

I will not advise removing electricity subsidy coz it will be counterproductive at this stage.

My theory is that the reason all the refinery are suddenly working now is because of subsidy removal. Who need refinery when you can just lie about your imports, and scam the government of subsidy.

Abi what miracle suddenly happened that made our refineries just start working ever since they’ve been fixing them for decades.

Just under two years and the refineries are up and running

I keep saying by the time Jagaban is done with Nigeria, everyone will be queuing to vote for him

He is truly showing workings

Just wait for 2025 because all the foreign trips from last year and this year will begin to crystallize. Already there’s a $5bn investment from Shell and others are coming in

You’re correct. Then they will probably commission it very soon.

Nice one. Let’s see how it goes.

This reminds me of me of Obasanjo statement that “No refinery will work in Nigeria”. The man lack foresight, I wonder what he will be thinking now.

Great stuff. The downstream sector became competitive and suddenly, all our refineries are waking up one after the other. Kudos to Dangote for blazing the trail. We are expecting PMS price to crash forward as more quantities are produced locally. Kudos to Tinubu for reforming the sector.

You pray all day that good news about your own country should turn out to be fake just so you can taunt those with different political ideology...thats the lowest of lows

Is Warri not a real place or did the News outlet gather unrealistic info from mars and pass it off as a site in Warri? Kindergarten logic

if it was a negative news without source, you'd swallow it once
