Those 27 lawmakers made a "stupid" mistake when they defected from the party that sponsored their election to the HoA. And with that action, they automatically activated their exit from the house, automatically ejecting themselves from the HoA

Do they have a choice? the supreme Court judgement would be fully enforced.Its a pity this crisis has assumed a zero sum game.the issue of presenting budget to 4 members that the appeal court declared illegal is before the supreme Court.If the supreme Court declares the action of the governor illegal,it will automatically invalidates what he has done today.

Oga even if we agree they defected and the 27 lawmakers lost their seats,by law the rivers state house of assembly doesn't have a functional house of assembly today until elections are held to fill the vacant positions.3 members those make up 11 members that is the quorum required to sit as a house.

But will the governance of a state come to a standstill because of the " mistakes" of 27 men.
This is why the judiciary has to be free from bipartisanship. Because, matters like this should not linger for long. It should be given speedy hearings seeing that so many things as far as governance is concerned depends on it.

The Judiciary has already made a pronouncement at the level of the court of Appeal that the governor can't present budget to 4 members of the HOA.He has gone ahead to present it again to this time 3 members of HOA.when the supreme Court finally rule that the budget is invalid,which would mean he can't spend state resources,what is he going to do?

I think the governor has mismanaged this crisis in rivers that even if the court rules that the 27 members are no longer members of the house,the governor is still going to be at the disadvantage because budget crisis would be a negative to him.He shouldn't have used the defections as he was been told to do on social media.He should have allowed the crisis to settle down and start buying the lawmakers over.By now at least he would have 10-15 lawmakers on his side and wikes influence would gradually go down.look out Edo State where PDP has overwhelming majority,the APC governor has control over the house in less than 2 months in office.

Actually it's only the PDP that actually has the locus to file a case in this defection saga.The court of Appeal overruled the decision of the federal high court to stop allocations to Rivers because of locus.They said it is the supreme Court that has jurisdiction to hear that matter and not FHC,they didn't go into the substance of the case.

The CoA never said it is the SC that has jurisdiction. It is the state high court that has jurisdiction on matters of state allocation is what the Court said
