Nigerians read books for reading’s sake. They don’t do it to better their lives. It reminds me of an entry I saw here once; people who dwelled in a slum. In that slum resided a book merchant. He had consumed over 300 books and counting. The knowledge he got from them was endless quotes from great men. He still lived in his one-bedroom tent with a pit toilet located metres away.

Reading is a powerful tool for personal growth, but it doesn’t guarantee a transformation in one’s financial or social status. Books offer knowledge, insights, and perspectives, but real change often requires action and the application of what has been learned.

People read for various reasons—whether to gain knowledge, improve intelligence, or simply for enjoyment—and each type of book serves its purpose. However, when it comes to financial improvement or achieving success, reading alone isn’t enough. Without taking practical steps and putting in the effort to implement strategies, all the knowledge in the world won’t lead to tangible results. Reading is the foundation, but action is the catalyst for change.

it was just a love story
A love story that crosses continents. From the place of Africans in the race of politics in America,to love across continents,a confident and self-made woman making her way in these complicated times.
The book is also about identity, nationality, race, difference, loneliness, aspiration and love.

This is a dumb opinion inspired by hardship. Anyone can read for leisure, whether they be a billionaire or a homeless person.

You cannot gatekeep people's reasons for reading or what they gain from it. Implying that reading books should automatically improve one's standard of living, while ignoring the real determinants of wealth like environment, family and economy, is the sort of thing someone like you who doesn't read would think undecided

I had a goal of 40, but life happened and I was not in the state of mind to enjoy anything. But I still managed 23 and I hope I can do better next year.

Haven't you read The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene? I started reading it back in secondary school.

The book teaches you how to navigate power dynamics, gain influence, and outmaneuver opponents in various aspects of life. With 48 practical laws, such as "Never Outshine the Master" and "Conceal Your Intentions," the book uses historical examples to provide strategies for leadership, success, and personal growth.

I read about five books this year, two were ebooks. I used to read a lot but this has been a busy year and this place is also not helping. It takes a lot of my free time but the incoming year will change all that. I'm done generating traffic for the nigga who owns this place.

While i dont entirely agree with the guy, calling someone's opinion dumb and inspired by poverty is very uncharitable
