I read a couple
The 8th habit
Atomic habits
Conversations on faith
Understanding the power and purpose of Men by Miles Monroe
Success Systems by David Oyedepo
Seeing what is sacred
Etc
And a few fictional works and autobiographies. I prefer hard copies to Ebooks. There's something about hard copies that just makes the reading experience sweeter

Reading is a powerful tool for personal growth, but it doesn’t guarantee a transformation in one’s financial or social status. Books offer knowledge, insights, and perspectives, but real change often requires action and the application of what has been learned.

People read for various reasons—whether to gain knowledge, improve intelligence, or simply for enjoyment—and each type of book serves its purpose. However, when it comes to financial improvement or achieving success, reading alone isn’t enough. Without taking practical steps and putting in the effort to implement strategies, all the knowledge in the world won’t lead to tangible results. Reading is the foundation, but action is the catalyst for change.
Books must have effects

Nigerians read books for reading’s sake. They don’t do it to better their lives. It reminds me of an entry I saw here once; people who dwelled in a slum. In that slum resided a book merchant. He had consumed over 300 books and counting. The knowledge he got from them was endless quotes from great men. He still lived in his one-bedroom tent with a pit toilet located metres away.
I used to know someone just like that too. He has read more than 300 motivational books on how to get rich but hmmm his life shows that .....no be by reading books o.

I didn't do well in that regard. I started some books but didn't finish any. Very uncharacteristic and I know the reason why.

Less than 48 hours before the end of 2024... How many books have you read this year? Or has it been all about social media, endless hustling, or maybe you just don’t enjoy reading? shocked
Guy,

This era, people don't have time to read books anymore. Their attention is focused on how to make money and survive the turbulent times.

The internet has not even helped in this regard, as there are many distracting stuffs online. Tell me when you would've time to pick up a hardcopy book and read...It's a waste of time.

Oboy I don read plenty books this year.
I read loads of novels this year; Message from Nam, The Winner, etc (More than 20 novels)

I also read a lot of Christian and Muslim books. I finally read through the Qur'an (English Translation) after years of starting and stopping. Gosh, that's the dumbest shxt ever concocted by the human brain. Honestly, I mean no offence. I just can't believe people actually accept that stuff as truth. If I was God, I would do better. I have seen better.

I also read through a version of Homer's Iliad. Very long poem.

Until your job is from Monday to Monday, you'd think people who need to survive don't want knowledge to read books.

I don't have that length of time to read so much like that however, I listened to so many intellectuals via podcasts, interviews etc and I can tell you. They will explain it better and drive home their points in such a way that reading from book wouldn't. So, I learnt what in minutes via videos and podcasts what would take weeks, months to read in books. I love books though

I read on average 3 books in a week. I actually listen to audiobooks a lot, that's why.

(Although "none" for some very busy weeks)

I've read more than 170 books this year. There are some books I read more than twice.

A book I'm about to finish reading right now is "Who Is This Allah"

(The Book exposes the objective truth about Islam). I'll recommend it for both Muslim, christians and traditionalists. It is one of my greatest read.

"Who Is This Allah" is an highly recommended book you should read this January.

(I had to search the store to read the book one more time. Don't mind the dirty cover)

Sometimes we focus on what we can learn or know. But sometimes we have to unknow the things we know and reknow the things we know differently through unlearning and relearning.

And the best ways to unlearn and relearn are books, movement, and trying new experiences.

Videos, news, social media, and even ChatGPT can help you learn but would hardly help you unlearn or relearn. Your cognitive bias would still stand undefeated with these platforms.

Maybe 50-60 books.
It was all about tracing the origin of the Adam and Eve story in the Bible, what ancient Africans believed, and how the ancient African snake became blackmailed as Satan by Europeans.

The Adam and Eve story started from Northern Congo to South East Nigeria axis, most especially Anambra State. At this point in the dim period of human history Yorubas and Igbos used to be one clan. They splitted later. These people founded the very concept of God, thousands of years before ancient Egypt existed.

Obi means snake, savior, a king- all being attributes of the snake in ancient time. The people of Northern Congo also address the snake as "king". They even have a song for it.

More details in my upcoming book: what is Satan? What is Lucifer: the biggest secret in the world

The reading culture in Nigeria has died... social media, hustling for money, desperation for money, love dating, lack of discipline and self control for sex has distracted a lot people and even students

it's one of the reasons.....i remember reading books then to wake up my dead brain... When I gained admission into d University I discovered, I couldn't read for long again, I found it difficult to read bulky courses like anatomy or plant biology without sleeping.... I got all this motivational books and novels and that was it, I was not reading them to gain anything, but jst to wake my brain and develop a reading habit, sometimes I even go to the library to read newspapers grin.... Now I encourage my students to read at least a book at the beginning of every semester, even if na for reading sake....

I spent the year reading lots of documentation for different libraries and frameworks. These may not count as traditional book reading but I sure did gain new knowledge.

This month I made a commitment to read twelve books by the end of May, 2025. I'm a little behind schedule but already finished one — "Zero to One" by Peter Thiel.
