So I woke up yesterday with a watery discharge in my penis. Towards afternoon I became worried. Having had the same issue like a year ago I decided to take levofloxacin the drug the doctor prescribed that time. I decided to do self prescription because I don’t really have money to visit the hospital. Otherwise I prefer hospitals than self med. I took two tablets yesterday - one in the afternoon around 3pm and another one late in the night around 1 am. Around 3:30am, I woke up feeling confused and with a lot of panic attack. I don’t know what happened to me. My heart was beating fast and my ears were heavy. Right now the discharged has reduced a little but I am scared taking another tablet. I read online that the drug can cause hearing loss and that has really heightened my fears. Doctors in the house, Abeg what advice do you have for me? Should I continue with the drug? The tablet is 500mg. |

Mode4:From your description, it sounds like you may have experienced side effects of levofloxacin, which is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. While it can effectively treat bacterial infections, it also has a range of potential side effects, some of which can be serious. 1. Symptoms You Experienced Fast heart rate and panic attack: These could be side effects of the medication or anxiety related to your health concerns. Heavy ears: This may relate to one of the known side effects, like tinnitus or other auditory issues. 2. Risks of Continuing the Drug Without Supervision Levofloxacin has potential side effects, including: Neurological issues: Anxiety, confusion, or panic attacks. Hearing issues: While rare, some people may experience tinnitus or other auditory problems. Tendon damage: This is another known risk, especially in people with certain predispositions. 3. Advice on Next Steps Pause the medication: It’s better to stop the medication until you consult a healthcare professional. Continuing it might worsen any side effects. Seek affordable care: If visiting a private hospital is too expensive, consider government clinics or primary health centers, which often provide more affordable services. Communicate your history: Let the healthcare provider know about your previous infection and the prescription history. This may help them prescribe an alternative antibiotic that is safer for you . 4. Addressing Your Current Symptoms Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help flush the drug out of your system. Monitor symptoms: If the fast heart rate, heavy ears, or confusion persists, go to a hospital immediately. Avoid self-prescription in the future: Even though you had a previous prescription, using the same medication without a doctor’s supervision can lead to complications. Alternatives Infections causing penile discharge may require antibiotics like azithromycin or ceftriaxone, commonly used for STIs, but only a doctor can confirm the right treatment. |

You should be ashamed of your worthless self. If you don't remove my moniker from that rubbish you wrote by yourself, this year will become a year of mourning for you. |

So I went to the hospital and tests were conducted. The doctor diagnosed urinary tract infection and placed me on two weeks of medication. I am taking nitrofurantoin 100mg, ofloxacin 400mg and Clindamycin (don’t know the mg) each of them twice daily. But I am a bit worried if the drugs are not too much.
