The fear of Dangote Refinery has become the beginning of wisdom for NNPCL Refineries. Refineries that were deliberately left to rotten have become new bride for NNPCL |

Anytime they talk about Refinery working or not working, some people think it is like a Barber's shop where they expect to see the barber holding a clipper, and someone walks in with bushy hair and walks out with a nice cut. Any news that looks good bites them and makes them wail. Even PENGANSSAN president - OSIFO Festus attests to the fact that PH Refinery is working at least, to its design configuration. Someone that doesn't even know how a refinery operate will just come to nairaland to type anything |

Wallade:If you have the figures of money pumped in for TAM between 2019 and date.. please share them. No long talk. And it will be laughable to quote figures used to pay staffs salaries even though the refineries were all shut down.. By the way, the refineries were once producing far lower than 10% capacity, some time more They were totally shutdown as soon as GMD took office..no turn around maintenance was approved by him and what followed next was inviting Daewoo group, the Italians who built port Harcourt refinery and financiers. You can hate Government and Nigeria all you want .but what is fact should be spoken of. I am waiting for your figures sir |

nairalanda1:And you said he didn't do anything special by taking that decision? You are contradicting yourself. I always notice that you like dancing a little to the left and a little to the right. Stand one place. You are a man. Nobody go beat you. |

Okoroawusa:Yes, because in my expereince, Nigerian leaders don't want to remove subsidies. They want to keep them in place. It keeps the peace, and it is a simple way to keep people happy (bread and circuses, even if it kills the economy). Tinubu removed subsides because the debt from keeping them had grown too large to keep them. If Tinubu was so reform minded, why did he oppose GEJ's plan to remove subsides.? Why? It is partly because GEJ was not brave to remove subsides that we have the problems we have now. And tinubu and buhari were wrong in 2012 to oppose subsides, and GEJ was wrong not to totally remove them. As were most past leaders. We lost 4 good refineries and billions of dollars because our leaders could not take sane decisions. I always notice that you like dancing a little to the left and a little to the right. Stand one place. You are a man. Nobody go beat you.Yes, because you tinubu supporters, IPOB, buhari, GEJ et al are all the same. LIke now, you supported subsidy remaining in 2012, like tinubu, and now your side is in power, subsidy removal is the way forward. LIkewise, a lot of GEJ supporters supported subsidy removal in 2012, now they oppose it. See how like you all are? And you are calling me flip flopper. ![]() As for me, I was a strong subsidy supporter till 2012, when , despite the fact that I despised the government, I decided to do some reading, because I have been hearing subsidy removal since 1993. Repeatedly. And what I read woke me up. I cannnot support your side or their side, because you guys use our economy to play ludo. Neither of you guys want to help Nigeria, you just want to win. And as for me, I am on the side of this country, even if it means being the only one. |

CuriousChidike:I told you to always read before you comment. I even tried to give you a news publication to read but you still didn't read. is this news publication a lie? https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/748226-timeline-nigerian-govts-failed-moves-unfulfilled-promises-to-revive-moribund-refineries.html?tztc=1 In May 2023, the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee on the state of refineries in the country said the federal government spent over N11 trillion on the rehabilitation of the refineries from 2010 to 2023. March 2021: Approval of rehabilitation contract for PHRC: In March 2021, NNPC Ltd said repairs had started at PHRC after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved $1.5 billion for the project. August 2021: Approval of rehabilitation contract for Warri and Kaduna refineries In August 2021, the FEC approved the award of the contract for the rehabilitation of the Warri and Kaduna refineries at the combined total sum of $ 1.5 billion, assuring that rehabilitation works on both refineries would also be carried out on or before May 2023. If you don't believe it then do a research your self online. Google is your friend. You said the refineries were producing 10℅ capacity at sometime and I wonder where they sold the products? If you are working at 10% of your capacity in life then you are probably test running. You are not productive. The refineries have not been working and they have been down even before Kyari became GMD of NNPC/NNPCL. |
