International politics is different from what you think, it's more of a trade, not allowing Ekpa to go return to Nigeria might have it's own problem, besides the arrest was a request from the Nigeria government, it's very likely he will be sent back.

Even if he isn't sent back once he is convicted over there, his citizenship would be severely hampered and he might be sent back immediately after he served his time, either way, he is coming back to Nigeria.
