Good morning house. Please I mistakenly omitted some of the countries I've visited in the last 10 years when filling my profile and I've already submitted and received AOR, is there anything I can do?
You can send a webform stating that error and include the travel dates if you can remember.

Thanks for sharing. All you said is true. It all depends.

I don’t believe anyone would leave a country and not prepare for challenges. There are challenges indeed. In my own case, GOD has been truly helpful along the way. I’m very religious so I hold on to the helm of GOD’s garment.

The only major shock I had was the overpriced houses and car insurance you have to pay but in my own case, my friend housed me for a while until I got a job and moved so settling down was okay for me and it’s been okay since. Even with the challenges, I’ve been dangerously helped by GOD.

My advice to everyone, equip yourself and keep an open mind. Face your journey. Our destinies and backgrounds are different.

I'll also add that the skills/strategies required to thrive in Nigeria is quite different from what is required to thrive in Canada. People have different reasons for moving to Canada and the hardship people face at first is usually compounded by lack of understanding of the system. No amount of preparation may prepare you for some of the things you'll encounter but if you remain strong, you'll thrive.
When I moved here in 2022 my biggest fear was the job market hence I got a job in my field before landing. Close to my travel date, I found it hard finding anyone to accommodate me for the first two weeks. Friends in Canada who stayed at my apartment in Lagos each time they visited kept telling me how their house was full and all. I didn't understand because in Nigeria I accommodate people (friend of brother, friend of friend, sibling of friend...) hence I didn't think in the line of air bnb. When I arrived I noticed how heavily indebted people were. Even the whole "I bought a house" is different from home purchase in Nigeria as I knew it. Some people buy a house via mortgage and rent out all spare rooms. That was something new to me. Same people whose homes were full later offered me spot in their home for $800 or $1000 a month when they noticed that I actually had a job in Canada. Its a brutal system where people look to profit off others irrespective of the situation. I remained strong, stayed in that air bnb, built my credit and eventually moved into a condo. The rental market was very competitive then and nobody was willing to rent to me as a newcomer with no credit history. Hence I advice people to not be too quick to re-connect with old foes or make friends. After sometime, newcomers will understand the system and find it easier to thrive

Just want to drop my 2 cents on IELTS and CELPIP.

More and more people are finding IELTS challenging to max and I'm not sure why.

Some are saying CELPIP is better. Everyone is sharing their opinion but at the end, we all must choose.

My summary is that preparation for these exams involve understanding not just grammar and use of words but what's expected of you to be graded high (CLB 10) in these exams.

For example, in the listening and reading sections of both IELTS and CELPIP, expect to understand the summary of the topic and the meaning of words and issues. They are big on paraphrasing for the Q&A.

In the Writing sections, expect to put your thoughts across in clear paragraphs with a good use of sentence structures as applicable to writing emails and opinions.

In the Speaking sections, there are some variations with the questions, but the key is being able to convey your opinion with some related points with examples and less word repetitions. In my opinion, the idea that you're speaking to a human interviewer in IELTS can make it more challenging than speaking to a computer. Others might not feel the same. But different strokes for different folks.

Again, the most important thing is to understand the structure of each exam and what's expected to get a highly desired grade in each of the sections, especially writing and speaking. Reading and Listening is all about practicing multiple past questions and finishing within the allotted time.

IELTS:

- multiple centers in Nigeria,
- multiple time options
- 2 seatings (3 sections in one sitting and the speaking section in another sitting, possible on the same day).
- mixture of language and accents
- a little more expensive when compared to CELPIP (266k vs 220k)
- multiple payment options
- result out within 5-7 days.

CELPIP

- only one center in Nigeria, and it's in VI, Lagos.
- time options are highly limited (since it's only one location)
- one seating for the 4 sections of the exam
- Canadian accent all through the listening section
- payment options are limited.
- result out within 2-3 days

Choose carefully but most importantly, prepare well.

P.S: Your Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) is NOT the average of your scores across Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking sections but the LOWEST of your scores in any of the sections. That means R7 W6.5 L7.5 S7.5 for IELTS is a CLB8 or R10 W7 L10 S9 from CELPIP is a CLB7. This applies to TEF and TCF results as well.

P.P.S: If you do not max your primary language scores (CLB9+) and you already have or planning to get 2 degrees/Masters/PhD, it won't matter much as you won't get the desired extra 50 points in the Skills transferability section.
Thank you for this piece.
Please do you have any IELTS links/materials that has the actual listening audio. The ones i have doesn't come with an accompanying audio, only the questions are displayed. Thank you.

Why not? We got PR while my spouse was still studying.

I paid CAD499 here to write IELTS. I didn’t do that well though (Band 7). I am thinking of doing CELPIP also to add to it before I apply for express entry.

Remember, you must have skilled work experience of at least one year in an occupation listed under the 2021 National Occupational Classification (NOC) as TEER Category 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Instead it is TEER 4 and 5 or can I use that from Nigeria also?

Hi, I wrote Celpip a while ago and I strongly advise you attend their YouTube recorded classes. I believe that’s all you need. The channel is “Celpip Test”

Hello, I'm a bit worried. Submitted my PR application on the 27th of August, and I haven't being sent a mail for biometric and medicals.
Anyone else in this boat

It's express entry not PNP

Is yours PNP? From what I have observed, PNP takes much longer time than FSW.
That's unusual! Almost 4 months!
1.Did you get AOR after submitting?
2. How are you checking for updates, just your email address or both email and your GCkey account?
Anyway, it's better to find how to contact them to know the reason. This should bring your application back to the top of the pile to the eyes of the officers. Good luck!

As I am yet to get international passport, does this mean I can reduce my age as I am processing for the international passport?

The age on your international passport is what you can claim.
