The advisory from Australia is highly damning and unfortunately, true to some extent. It broke my heart reading qbout what my dwar country has unfortunately become.

The retaliation by Abuja is so puerile and watery and a weak attempt to handle the situation.

How about making a strong rebuttal laced with facts and figures and showing concrete steps that government has taken to reverse the trend?

Accept that you have a situation but that it is actually exaggerated.

One thing many Nigerians won’t realise is that these travel advisories are one of many tools of western imperialism against developing countries they like / don’t like.

A subtle way of controlling tourism flows whilst ignoring the issues in their own countries.
Keep quiet there!

Na oyibo be your problem for everything wrong with you.

Can you as an average Nigerian comfortably travel to the states Australia mentioned for tourism or business? Worst still as an expatriate who has high ransom value?

Didn’t the Nigerian government also retaliate with a travel warning against Australia? Why won’t it have any effect since that’s all it takes to underdevelop a country?

Your major concern should be how to tackle the insecurity in the states mentioned so people can freely travel there for business and tourism. But you are here looking for who to blame for our shortcomings.

Black man must wake up. It’s getting late.

Btw, if your state is amongst the listed state by Australia and you have been blowing grammar online for years, cover your face in shame. Your grammar and education are useless

Nigeria has finally grown some balls. Even though many Nigerians will trash this, the FG has shown the world that nobody has monopoly of advisory. Every country has what plaques them.
You are just cutting your leg and eating it at the same time. What can you say about APC? Haven't they monopolized everything in Nigeria?

You can still share your opinion without being vulgar. Part of the black man waking up is speaking back when being told falsehoods or exaggerated truths.

You do realise more than one thing can be true at the same time. You’re right in saying security issues should be fixed. Any serious government has to solve for this asap. However, that doesn’t disprove the fact that even when security issues are fixed these western countries will find something else to yap about to maintain their global supremacy agenda.

For example, China doesn’t have significant security issues right? But they use issues around ethnic minorities (the Uyghurs). If you don’t have those issues they will find LGBTQ or something else to hold on to.

My post isn’t to absolve the current or past Nigerian governments of blame but to enlighten Nigerians to the fact that these western soft agenda exists to influence others.

You cannot compare a first world country to what we have here
How can a reasonable human labels Nigeria as a 3rd World country?

Nigeria is far below a 3rd World country now.

At best, Nigeria could be seen as a 20th World country to the best of my understanding.

Examples of a 3rd World country are Cuba, Jamaica, Egypt, Tunisia and South Africa.

Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda are examples of a 5th World countries.

50,000 PEOPLE ARE SHOT ANNUALLY IN ''FIRST WORLD'' AMERICA.

DOES YOUR EMPTY HEAD KNOW THAT?

Regarding AUSTRALIA, violence is common.

''An estimated 8 million Australians (41%) have experienced violence since the age of 15. This includes 31% of women and 42% of men who have faced physical violence, and 22% of women and 6.1% of men who have encountered sexual violence.

Organized Crime:

Australia is a destination country for human trafficking, with individuals subjected to sex trafficking and forced labor. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) reported a significant increase in human slavery and trafficking offenses in 2024, with 790 people charged with 1,848 offenses. Reports of human slavery rose by 12% compared to the previous year, totaling 382 instances, including forced marriage, labor, sexual exploitation, domestic slavery, and debt bondage.''

................

So, YES, Nigeria MUST issue warnings to its citizens intending to visit such a dangerous country where nearly half the population has been ''subjected to violence'', with rampant human and sex trafficking, rape, ''forced labour'' (also known as slavery) etc etc.

The question is not whether Nigeria should issue travel warnings against countries like Australia.

The question is why it's taken them so damn long!
Don't mind all the foolish people ranting rubbish here in Nairaland as if what FG said about Australia is a lie.
Why didn't Australia said the same same about USA?

So Australia is basically telling their citizens not to travel to Nigeria, by listing almost all the states in the country, yet they maintain a mission here. Why not leave if you're so unsafe? This rubbish needs to stop. Good one FG.

They are not stupid. Giving an advice to your citizen so they can know how not to be in danger is what a reasonable government will do.

Re: FG Retaliates, Caution Citizens Against Travelling To Australia by AerialMapper: 2:03pm On Jan 01, 2025
Actually... This is diplomacy. They do, and you fire back but they shouldn't stop here

Please open visa processing centres in all the countries for their citizens to apply for visa by attending interviews where they submit 6 months back statements showing their earnings, their assets and their ancestors biodata!

Nigerians cannot be suffering for their visas only for them to enter with visa on arrivals with little or no checks!
