No Nigerian President living or dead has ever taken an unpopular decision like PBAT, let give him his flowers
His lame decisions are not unpopular. Fuel subsidy has been discussed in Nigeria for over 15 years. The main context was to probe the corruption in the subsidy. That would have been a tough decision and I would have given him his flowers.
To announce at Eagle square in swearing in day wasn't brave, it was cowardice cos he can't face the subsidy cabals since he leads them through his affinity with OANDO PLC.

Nigerians are not fools, we know what we know and it's in the main stream media daily. Don't try to give praise to someone whose inhumane policies have brought death to many poor folks but wealth to his kin and party faithful. What's the essence of government? The barometer to measure governance is the standard of living of the least amongst us

Brilliant piece from Thisday. No doubt BAT is my man of the year 2023/2024. I greatly admire strong leaders determined to push reforms for the betterment of a nation

Gbam!
Reforms that adversely affects only the poor but the political elites are still wallowing in affluence stolen from our commonwealth?

Look at the 2025 budget, still buying SUVs, renovation of houses for them, larger cabinet and expanding government structures etc

The Argentina's president cut down his cabinet from 18 to 9 and many freebies for politicians were cut off. Today there are results cos for the first time in close to 30 years they didn't have a budget deficit and didn't need to borrow to fund their budget.

BAT was sworn in first before the guy and Argentina economy was worse than ours when their president took over
That's what is called genuine reforms not this one sided one filled with nepotism and favouritism

What are the lessons?

Recall that during the 2022 to 2023 presidential campaigns, Arise News and ThisDay used every opportunity to attack Tinubu.

Ms Ojynika Ojy Ope brought every Tinubu's gaffe to amplify on her gossip segment of their morning show. Rufai Oseni said all sorts and asked Tinubu to bring himself to their studios so he (Rufai Oseni) could cross-examine him. Tundun Abiola abused people who spoke for Tinubu. Abati sometimes got carried away and joined the fray. Even their proprietor wrote a scathing release where he specifically said that Nigeria must avoid a "Noriega moment", in reference to Tinubu's unproven drug dealings. That press release was in bad taste that the duo of Dele Alake and Bayo Onanuga took the owner of Arise News to the cleaners over his unethical business practices. The owner of Arise News even tried to control public opinion by insisting Tinubu must be interviewed by them or other media house.

We must remember that the media house gave positive press coverage to PDP, Atiku, LP, Peter Obi and Godwin Emefiele as the latter contributed his quota to bury tye Nigerian economy.

They even lied that APC Presidential Campaigns had asked ThisDay/Arise Media Group to remove Rufai Oseni from the Morning Show and Shaka Momodu as ThisDay Editor in favour of patronage should Tinubu win.

After the heat from Bayo Onanuga and Dele Alake, Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria had to intervene to reach a settlement as the owner of ThisDay/Arise found himself in hot water.

The morning after the results were declared, Rufai Oseni exhibited a sad and forlorn look as he could not conceal his pain.

Following Tinubu's victory, they brought all sorts of human beings to their media station to discredit the elections and discuss a matter in a court. When all that failed and the handwriting on the wall was clear, their boss started making moves to ingratiate himself to the leaders of the day. For example, he invited himself to attend a Nigeria-Saudi Investment Forum to catch the eye of the president.

Only recently, they tried to discredit the coastal highway by jumping from one issue to another without questioning someone for allocating public land to himself.

What has changed from the antagonistic media group to bromancing the president?

What are the lessons:

1. Put your eye on the ball and believe in what you do and do what you are convinced in. Had Tinubu allowed himself to be misled to the biased media group, they'd have messed him up.

2. Many organizations take editorial decisions to favour the business interests of their owners. Do not be deceived that they are giving a voice to you or your feelings. They are doing what is politically expedient at that time.

3. I think it is unethical for a media house to dish out awards. A media is a business, but how can they be objective in coverage when they give awards to people they ought to report?

4. How come Channels TV, TVC, NTA, VOA et al do not give awards to people?

5. It is clearly a battle of business survival which makes this award in bad taste, unethical and unacceptable.

Let's look into the future:

1. Atiku and Obi would condemn ThisDay/Arise for giving Tinubu the award.

2. Tinubu should thank them and reject it.

3. I am ashamed of Tinubu's enemies eating their words. Why can't they stand by what they claimed to have believed?
On point

ThisDay is cashing out.
Zombies are writing trash
They think such award and Ruben Abati's anchorage of the media charade fell out of the blue
Zombies have been in an abusive relationship with the APC elites since 2015
They are at the receiving end of bad governance yet they keep supporting those decimating their lives while those ones treat themselves to the best life has to offer at public expense
That's how one APC woman died in a customs rice stampede early last year
May I not be foolish in life

all this English no too much for award wey dem buy to save face from being the 3rd most corrupt leader in the world?

Can I also see the lessons you dropped on that topic?
You are not really at a level to dictate to me what to write on or not.

For your information, many of you are too limited to think far and deep. An unknown foreign entity classifies an African leader as 3rd most corrupt person, you are foolishly parroting it because you don't like him. Incase you do not know, that reflects poorly on every citizen. You think leaders of first world countries are not corrupt or even more corrupt than African leaders? Who'd give them such an award? Where is Gaddafi's money? Why was Iraq invaded and what happened to the money taken from his mansion? Are you not aware that Gaddafi funneled money to Nikolai Sarkozy for political campaigns? Are you not informed of the activities of some countries to keep African countries poor?

Are you not aware that a US Pharma carried out unapproved tests on a drug in Nigeria that killed several children?

For those of us who travel globally, we do not parrot such nonsense that our leader is corrupt because we know the implications. It is our Nigerian passport that is assaulted.

Try and grow up. Hate will not take you far.

But you wouldn't know this.

The fact that PH and Warri refineries can work is a plus for him but make he try control price. People are fixing prices anyhow
The two major factors that detetmine the prices are the exchange rate and the cost of crude in the international market.
There is nothing or little he can do to control these two. Prices are being fixed in relation to these.

If the exchange rate to the dollar improves and the price of crude comes down to around 50 dollars per barrel, everyone will smile except the government because revenue will dwindle.

Ever since Reuben Abati led the team that interviewed Tinubu last week, his views about Tinubu had changed.

Try and leave your bitterness behind in 2024. You are not better off contributing rubbish to topics.

Try and stay on point and if the topic is beyond the carrying capacity of your brain, you won't die if you keep quiet and move on.

You try to call other people zombies because they don't support what you support or reject what you reject. It shows you always want people to agree with your views. As there are more than 200 million human beings, there can be more than 200 million views on a topic. If you lack the capacity to be sensible to understand that people would have different views, that makes you a hypocrite.

We are discussing the impropriety of an award, you are bringing an unrelated issue of how a woman died somewhere. What is the relevance to the topic?

This new year, try and find something to do. Learn a skill.

You try to prove that other people are writing thrash, whereas you are extremely limited in making engaging submissions.

Bow in humility to your superiors like UltraSolid who took you to the cleaners the last time you inserted yourself in a topic that you clearly had no understanding or capacity thereto that I had to plead with him not to push you to depression.

May I ask if you're so triggered cause you fall into that category?

So in your grand delusions, you're entitled to an opinion but no one else is entitled to disagree with your opinion

Well, you'll have to work harder to make sense to me. Sorry.

Let's even give your silly criticism of ThisDay's award a little shift.

Is ThisDay the only media house that dishes out such awards in Nigeria and elsewhere?

Just recently, Time magazine chose Trump as their man of the year.

Even an international consortium of journalists gave same Tinubu third position in terms of most corrupt President in the world which I wager is a great disservice to him given the assortment of criminals and alleged criminals he's known to be cosy with.

So can you explain on what pedestal you're standing to vilify Thisday if not that of your usual hate, petty jealousy and bile?

Your particular obsession with Thisday and Oseni especially is unhealthy given that they're not remotely aware of your existence neither do they owe you anything.

I'll advise you to read motivational books this year to help you develop into a more well rounded individual instead of hating on personalities who are doing the job they are paid to do.

Happy New Year to you and all zombies on this forum
