Nobody wants to park strikers that will not get a chance to have a shot at goal because the opponent choke midfield and their backline.

4-4-2 normally allows you to have a mature striker and an upcoming younger striker. It gives the young striker experience and later the young one matures and become the main striker

Nowadays with 1 striker, no one has time to give the young striker to develop, That job is left to smaller clubs some might mature and develop into top team strikers

This is a bit closer to the truth than your earlier claim that Neymar and Messi were blocking them.

The truth is that teams are now packed full of midfielders masquerading as other positions. Right from GK to CF na one form of midfielder or the other teams dey select. Even the CBs now are selected for midfield qualities. Then you have modern fullbacks like TAA that could have made it to senior football in England only as a midfielder or a winger.

And it comes down to the craze to all play total football.

Well, they are not entirely wrong, since the defend can't hold on to a lead, the attack should outscored the defend, if defend concede 2 goals, attack should outscored the defend with 3 to 4 goals.

Team outscored your opponent and your defender blunders.
