Dear nairalanders, thanks for the great job you are doing on this platform. Please I need your advice on my family tourist visa application. I booked for an appointment almost a year ago, and my interview date is now close. My wife is currently heavily pregnant, and at the time of the application, she was not pregnant. My question is how can I explain to the VO that I am traveling for vacation/tourism with my wife who is heavily pregnant. Please note that our kids are also included in this application. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Blessed. |

Blessedone100:if u wanna play it safe...best you postpone the appointment, till after her delivery...unless u r a gambling man...and wan gamble with ur visa fees. VO is likely gonna deny the whole family...unless u lucky to meet an understanding VO..that will deny only ur wife.. alternatively if the preggy is under 3 months...u can proceed with ur plans...n come back and hv ur baby in naija |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Blessedone100: 11:58am On Jan 02, 2025 |
Thanks for the advice. But my concern is even after delivery, the baby is also not part of the application, this will mean I need to start my application all over? The situation is really confusing. |

Hello All, My mum submitted her passport for IW November 21 and her application status was updated to "Refused" on Dec 23. I have checked the OIS website and her passport is still not ready for pick up. Is there a way to contact the embassy to release her passport on time? as she needs to submit it for her Canada Visa. I will appreciate any help I can get with this. Thanks

Dear All, Please the new policy to visit US Embassy Lagos office for documents review before the visa interview proper. Does it apply to those who already picked interview date. I picked interview date sometimes in December, and I'm scheduled to go for visa interview next week. Someone hinted me I have to go for documents review at the Lagos office before my interview date |

Please can anyone reshare the email address to complain about this duplicate user found for applicant issue. Those who had the issue, please how long did it take for them to address the issue and has it been resolved? It's been over 2 months I raised a ticket and they said it had been escalated, the ticket is still open yet the issue has not been addressed. I am at my wits end on how to proceed with my mom's application. Please any useful insight would be appreciated |

PeachtreeReside:Yes. That's their number one reason for refusal. They prefer that one sticks to what is written on the ds 160 form. |

Goodday , Please I need clarification as to how long one's MRV payment made is valid for. I mean for someone who has made this MRV payment since April/ MAY 2024 and already scheduled an Interview appointment for MAY2025 will it be valid then ? Cause I hear people talking about MRV Receipt expiring and need clarity on how this works. Thanks |

Good evening, pls after payment for visa fee,I was asked questions as I and my children are qualified for IW, pls where is the site supposed to take me next? What I'm seeing is consular appointment, did I do something wrong? |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by lekefew: 6:12pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
Steph88:Login to AVITS dashboard and go to support on the menu, create a ticket, select Profile Inquires for the topic , fill the form and upload your new DS-160 form in the attachment section and submit. Wait for 24 hours and your confirmation number will be updated on the appointment, you'll get a response on the ticket letting you know it has been updated. I don't know if the weekend will affect the response time. I did mine yesterday and got a response today. I asked this question a week ago and nobody replied. I figured it out and I thought to help someone else |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by RoyV: 7:05pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
Not true. Stayed 10 days on my last trip and while I was not refused IW (I could not use my GTB receipt due to some glitch), I was instead sent an email, inviting me for a physical interview. In fact, my AVITS has no indication that I was book for/ attended an interview. Thankfully, it was successful (4 people interviewed before me - a family of 3 who were "white slipped", and 3 others who were denied. All for B2). Short interview too and based on what I do for work, where I plan to stay in the US, longest time I've been in the US (1month) and reiteration that I can't use the visa for birthing purposes per their 2020 laws since the visa is for 5 years (at this point, I was a bit sure I was going to be white slipped). She then handed me the white slip and told me my passport will be ready for pick up in about a week, which was true to stated timeline. PeachtreeReside: |

Yes, it is still valid. MRV fees are valid for 1 year. Please don't miss the interview and try to check your AVITS profile and email at least 3x a week to be sure you don't miss any emails on preponement or postponement. uchee: |

| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by RoyV: 7:14pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
So I think it is more of them trying to physically screen as many applicants as possible. Most of the interviews are quite short and straightforward- except where overstay, birthing without bill payment and other types of infractions have occurred. maryini: |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by sanyaolurilwan(m): 7:18pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
Please does this mean one can update a new ds-160 form on the avits platform now? Thanks lekefew: |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by lekefew: 8:12pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
sanyaolurilwan:Yes it's stated on the appointment confirmation document, in the instructions. It says if your DS160 and appointment don't match, you will not be allowed to interview, and to make corrections, you only have to create a ticket and upload the new DS160 form, I followed that exactly and I got my new DS160 confirmation number updated on the appointment. My appointment confirmation nows shows my new DS160 confirmation number |

PeacefulOne77:Good day, sorry if i am bothering you but i have an urgent issue. My visa expired like 2 months ago and i decided to apply for a new one. Everything was going well until i reached the final avits section. in the question on whether i had a current visa or it had expired in less than 48 months, I was confused and i picked the wrong answer and thus i was given the interview instead of the interview waiver option. following that in an attempt to get my interview waiver option back i cancelled my scheduled physical appointment and filed various support tickets. and most of them have been set to resolved and only one is on hold for a while now. on this topic earlier I saw some entries on creating a new avits account on a new device and then applying the right steps and getting the interview waiver option granted with the date and all. my questions are, 1. has it worked for anyone here like has anyone here collected their visa approved through drop-box and they went through the new account method with a physical interview cancelled on the old account and 2. will it cause any conflicts with the physical interview on my first account. your prompt reply is deeply appreciated. |

RoyV:You know that the rules change for different people and depends on whoever handles one's application. I know someone who stayed for 3mths, was issued a 221G form and was refused. Their rules are like British Weather.... |
| Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by MrMagnetic: 9:55pm On Jan 03, 2025 |
uchee:Yes, your MRV fee will not expire before your scheduled visa interview in May 2025, as long as you scheduled the appointment within the one-year validity period of the fee. Here’s a breakdown of how it works: - The MRV fee is valid for one year from the date of payment. Within this period, you must schedule an interview appointment. - Since you paid in April 2024 and scheduled the appointment before April 2025, your fee remains valid, even if the actual interview date falls beyond the one-year period, for instance even if your interview date is September 2025, the MRV is still valid because you have used it before April 2025 to schedule for interview. Hope this helps. |
