It's not disrespectful you are only feeling ashamed that you failed to do what you were supposed to do when you had all the means at your disposal to do it. Just look at the way he is making excuses for his failure.
Exactly!!!!

Its quite shameful that some people don't see this.

NNPC as currently structured CAN NOT run the refineries successfully. Mark my words, in a few months, something will go wrong again. I am not happy to say this but it's the way the country is wired. Government of Nigeria can not run any business effectively. The corruption and bureaucracy will eventually kill the business. You think Shell was stupid to reject the offers?
NNPC should not be in a hurry to gloat. They should at least wait for 1 year before formally inviting OBJ on a facility tour.
EP spotted!

Actually disrespectful!

The best they could have done is telling him to send a team to inspect the refinery.

He didn't "send a team" before claiming Nigerian refineries would never work.

Throwback:
It was already stated as an open invitation.

And It is Obasanjo that needs to clear his own doubt.
Obasanjo should be ashamed of himself for failing to set the right foundation for this country.

He couldn't give electricity in spite of billions of dollars invested into the electrification of Nigeria, he failed to revive Ajaokuta steel plant after his govt sunk billions of dollars into Ajaokuta steel.

The refinery he failed to revamp, our justice system started failing under him.

Obasanjo should blame himself!

same old regurgitations from you guys. Any reform that reduces the income of citizens and reduce their life's quality is evil.

It's a welcome development. Our refineries stopped working during Obasanjo's tenure as president. The name of the "chwa-chwa" that they used to halt the operations of the refineries was "turn around maintenance". Dem tink say we don forget?

You claimed the refineries won't work.
They were fixed, you still went on air to say it's not true, just because SHELL (the white man) told you years ago that it won't work
Now they say, come and see for yourself, you say na disrespect...

Shell turned down the offer to run the refineries because Shell is part of the international conspiracy to perpetually ship out crude oil to their own refineries abroad and continue to import refined petroleum products into Nigeria.

How will Obasanjo believes shell when they probably have their refinery abroad. You want their only source of getting crude to be close. Baba just Bleep up then cos Shell played a fast one on him. Dangote measure both local and international oil marketers as the people frustrating him then. All the multinational oil companies should have been mandated to build their refineries in Nigeria or leave, back then.

All the for and against is premature. Let all the revamped refineries work uninterrupted for 2 years then if FG wan throw carnival sef to celebrate, they're entitled. And likewise the naysayers will finally concede they were wrong. Both sides moved too soon.

The Former President himself said he was following the advice of SPDC.
He didn't care to get a second opinion, he just jumped on the advice from SPDC and he is still following their advice even after the repairs.
Let him go there and see for himself....

He was on Channels a few days ago publicly saying the refineries are not working and it propaganda. Well now he has gotten a public invitation to come publicly to see the refineries and also tell the public what he has seen

Obasanjo critised in the open and he was given an open invitation to come and inspect. Is there anything called the office of the former president? If the former president doesn't respect himself but always openly criticizing governments that he can easily access privately why should he expect respect and private invitation?

BTW why should OBJ condemn Atiku, Jonathan, Buhari, Tinubu and most likely any other president after him? Is he the only former president?
He believes he knows all. He institutionalized corruption since restoration of democracy. He killed most government companies in favour of private ones, where he had shares. He introduced election rigging and using undemocratic means to impeach governors against him. He criticize open when he can easily see Tinubu and tell him how he felt and now he was invited openly, he is shouting disrespect. So he didn't disrespect the office of the current president. So he doesn't know that by saying the refineries won't work, means the president is lieing abi.

guys think now , it is because no more subsidy to steal that is the reason NNPC is making all the effort to make Refineries work, but Tinubu led the protest against president Jonathan on plan to remove same subsidy, so you see all politicians are in the game to outsmart each other

I don't blame you but the number of people who clicked on like. Open invitation is very disrespectful..u invite a president in writing. If I use mouth invite u or social media u go come the occasion? That's the point he's making. If they put the invitation in writing,he will honor it. But see how u changed the narrative to suit u. Typical agbadorian slave

“Management”. That was the problem of most of the other previous administrations - including that of baba OBJ. I am not of fan of BAT. But I think he will do well and accomplish a lot more. BAT has taken some drastic but necessary decisions since he came in and these has done some kind of reset button pressing of the Nigeria economy. I am watching.

The problem with some of these our political appointees is that they don't know there is life after government service. Your office does not even require that you engage in political game play. It will backfire in future
They know there is life after government, but because they are aware that they are untouchable after government, they will run it anyhow. If corrupt politicians are being killed, things like this will stop happening.

Inviting former president Obasanjo to come and inspect the refineries is an indirect indictment of the Tinubu government .
President Tinubu released money for the mentainace of the refineries. He should inspect and speak to the press about the state of the refineries..
The government is slipping out of Tinubu's hands.
It is like we don't have president.

Let's bet it with our balls, all these reforms will yield no positive result but continuous inflation and hunger. After 8 years another Pharaoh will come up and things will keep getting worst. Then it would be counted as the worst mistake TPAIN ever made. I wish him well, but I know so well that nothing can work in Nigeria except corruption is being tackled by signing a bill of Kill Corrupt Politician Immediately to law and using five of them as scapegoat. Without this done, sorry is our name.
Re: Obasanjo Says Invitation To Inspect The Refineries Is Disrespectful by benjaminlawson(m): 8:43am On Jan 04, 2025
I totally agreed that it is disrespect to Obasanjo. If they are really sincere with what they are doing they don't need any invitation to show Nigerians that the refinery is working, mere telling us how many trucks are loading from it daily with evident of this from trucks driver is sufficient. We cannot be subjected to the lies and propaganda of our present government agencies, like when we were told the that of Port Harcourt is working, only for journalists to go there after some days and noticed that no fuel is being loaded there or how can we accept a situation where by the whole refinery is producing only about 10 to 20 trucks daily, and they claimed it is working at 60% capacity.
