Canada provides free healthcare and higher taxes. The federal income tax in the US is only 14.5% on an average. In Canada it's 24%. So what Canada is doing is not special or cool in any way. If you are taking 24% of my sweat you better provide free healthcare for me.

To you second point I already answered. For decades up till last year, thousands of Asians were by law deprived of their position in university admissions even though they merited it. And much of those positions given to blacks (talk about privilege). What can stunt your growth and development more then depriving you of education.
Do you think the Japanese Americans kept in camps during WW2 did not have stunted growth?
