Always maintain my stand that Obasanjo is the worst civilian president we ever seen but people who were babies when he was president praise him.

He laid foundation for every corruption we are witnessing today under civilian rule yet this man will be parading himself as saint.

Which president sells a govt establishment like the refineries just 2 days to leaving office?? Haaa
Stop misleading people with senseless post. What is now the use of the refinery, even with cost of maintenance, employees salary etc. Privatization is the best for Nigerian. Anyone not supporting this is daft and dumb.

YARADUA DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE PROCEDURE FOR SUCH TRANSACTION.
GOVERNMENT ASSETS SUCH AS REFINERIES AND OTHER PARASTATALS ARE PEOPLE 'S ASSETS.
THE PROCEDURE FOR SELLING THEM IS THIS.
1, THE SUPER PERMANENT SECRETARY IN CHARGE OF SUCH ASSETS WILL PREPARE A BILL THROUGH THE VP FOR NEC AND FOR PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL.
2, AFTER THE NEC APPROVAL AS STATED IN ONE ABOVE, THE BILL IS SENT TO NASS FOR RATIFICATION BEFORE ANY SALE OF THE PEOPLE 'S ASSETS CAN BE MADE.

On May 17, 2007 , President Obasanjo sold a 51 per cent stake in the Port Harcourt refinery to Bluestar Oil for US$561 million.

In another transaction that took place on May 28, 2007 , President Obasanjo sold 51 per cent shares in Kaduna Refinery to Bluestar Oil for $160 million,” Falana revealed.

The nation had been shortchanged as the shares acquired in the Port Harcourt refinery for $516 million were worth $5 billion.
12 days before and again 1 day before his tenure as President ended, Obasanjo was selling Nigerian refineries at 10% of their real values.

This tells you all you need to know about Nigeria's leaders and why there seems to be no hope on the horizon for the millions of Nigerians who are not in the corridors of power looting.

So Falana knows about all these things and all these while, but chose to keep quiet… Now he is talking because it’ll soon burst beyond repair. Well if corrupt politicians were not in power, heads would have rolled but as usual nothing will happen.
Good point.

Falana is only talking because he perceives that Obasanjo has become a toothless bulldog in the scheme of things in Nigeria.

Falana's mentor - Gani Fawehinmi on the other hand would not have kept quiet about this for 17 years.
