The door of life is binary; it opens either ways, inwards or outwards. So goes an age-long wisdom. When the Thisday newspaper, on January 1, 2025, announced President Bola Tinubu as its Man of the Year pick, emotions of Nigerians ran riot. Was that decision a product of editorial science or newspaper shamanism? Nigerians asked. To many, the newspaper’s editors must have meandered into some kind of trance, communed with with some unseen spirits and emerged therefrom with their odd pick.https://thescrutinyng.com/2025/01/05/thisday-suffering-nigerians-deserve-man-of-the-year-award-not-tinubu-adedayo/

This is just the truth. ThisDay Newspaper should never be taken seriously henceforth. Tinubu doesn't even deserve to be Man of the hour, let alone man of the year. Sincerely speaking, Nigerians are strong people. I know what I'm facing as an orphan without any external help, yet I never give up. Being orphan for over 18yrs and I'm 27 now. Truth is Nigerians are living like orphans and refugees |

hisexcellency34:If they asked the writer, how Nigeria as a nation, would be going progressively forward now, he would be talking off points. Very very easy to conderm, criticise and attack, but sit on the throne and see how leadership is very hard to pilot. When they first inaugurated Oyedele tax committee and they gave him a year for tax reform, I knew how I criticised, "the long period they gave him for ordinary tax reform",...... fast forward to now, having seen a lot of controversies generated, most especially from Govs, insisting, they should give them more time for the same tax, I initially criticise "the period too long". I now realise that, it easy to criticise, most especially wen you are seeing it from afar. |

Very true. ThisDay was playing politics with the lives of millions of Nigerians that Tinubu's policies plunged into multi-dimensional poverty. |

I honestly think Adedayo is correct. The battered Nigerians should be men of the year. Nigerians have been pummeled, despised, crushed and poverty inflicted yet they keep pushing and striving. Come on, give it to Nigerians |

One fire 🔥 work rockets during the holidays was sold for 6-7000 naira. I knew a vulcanizer that blew twenty in my area on the cross over night. He probably saved enough for that very night. Nigerians are suffering indeed! We need serious orientation to grab that discerning spirit..May God Almighty ease the affairs of the legit & hardworking folks on this forum. hisexcellency34:The other articles posted on that random blog have NO names credited to the article writers except this one with a certain Festus Adedayo name on the so-called ThisDay "Man of the Year" award. That blog is just a random blog to me. I've never heard of it. However, the "Man of the Year" title is usually given to anybody who has taken unusual and monumental decisions that have impacted on a wide range of people whether "GOOD or BAD." So, the ThisDay award is in order. Period. |

Fiscus105:Shut up, the same Tinubu opposed the policies he is currently inflicting on Nigerians when implementing these policies could have brought lesser pain. Tinubu deserves no award, he is a selfish, egoistic, a man with self-serving agenda. When Nigeriwn history is written in years to come, his name will go down in ignominy irrespective of how you people try to adulate him now. |

Articles coined for mass deglutition such as this, should be made simplistic and devoid of verbosity in order to engender harmonious understanding. |

hisexcellency34:Well worth the read, excellent journalism! Newspapers are just business merchants that's why I never take anything seriously from them. The German credited as one of the founders of print media Von Schlozer once said "Foolish is the man that never reads a newspaper. But even more foolish is the man that believes everything he reads in the newspaper" |
