Project location pls?
Project is located off Eket-ibeno highway close to Qua Iboe Terminal recently acquired by Seplat

Currently, access road to site yet to be completed. Meaning heavy duty equipment and materials cannot access the area easily.

So if you are familiar with projects as such, what do you think is possibly ongoing at the site?

Regulation of the downstream sector has been a major hindrance to getting refineries working all along. Sadly, BAT and his apc cronies were among those people who played politics with deregulation mobilising people against the past administration that attempted it. Him and the APC made sure Nigeria ground to a halt paying subsidy under Buhari until the country economic year ran into red and it becomes inevitable that the deregulation happens. With downstream deregulation, investors can now come in with confidence that their investments can be recouped in a free market. Anytime you people praise Tinubu for deregulation, always remember to remind him that he owe Nigerians apology for deceiving them to oppose subsidy while he would later come back to choke the same subsidy into their throat when the economy is very red. Imagine if this deregulation has been done when the economy was more buoyant and oil was selling at higher prices, Nigerians wouldn't have to go through the bitter hardship they go through now.

It’s easy to see why some might perceive updates like this as bordering on propaganda, especially when the progress doesn’t align with earlier expectations or rumors in circulation. Companies like BUA, given their significant role in Nigeria’s industrial development, have a responsibility to be crystal clear with the public.

Now, they’re saying the refinery isn’t at 90% completion but that things are "progressing steadily" and "on track." The question is, on track to what exactly? Without hard data or specific milestones, such statements can come across as vague reassurance rather than substantive progress.

People are naturally skeptical because they’ve seen too many grand projects that are announced with fanfare, hyped for years, and then fall short or vanish altogether. Nigerians have a long history of dealing with unfulfilled promises, especially in critical sectors like energy and infrastructure.

The part about "verifying information through official channels" is fair—misinformation can spread quickly. But at the same time, shouldn’t BUA and other big players take extra steps to ensure their communications are proactive and detailed enough to prevent speculation in the first place? False hope only breeds frustration when reality doesn’t meet expectations.

The real test will be when this refinery starts delivering the promised barrels of oil daily and strengthens Nigeria’s refining capacity. Until then, it's all about action over words.

You people are amazing. Someone complains about completre abuse of process at a level that should shock you, and the only things you can think of are UGM and PO. Your minds are twisted. Does it even occur to you that someone else came second in that election? Who tells you I am Ibo. Who tells you I am a PO supporter. Your generation really has a problem oh. God will help you.

Whether at 90% or not...
We Nigerians are only concerned about the reduction in the cost of PMS, GAS and Kerosene. It not compulsory we sell at the International price when we got our crude here. Apc government should start working on how inflation will be reduced to the minimal not until it is election period. God bless Nigeria
Exporting Nigerian products is also vital in order to stem the high rising inflation.

The more the merrier. Competition is good for the market. No room for monopoly anywhere.

What I would advice the Tinubu government to do now is to privatise the refineries so they can be run like proper corporate organisations bereft of government civil service attitudes that is the undoing of most public institutions. The govt can retain like 15-20% stake though.
nlc go gree?
Shebi they refused to sell benue cement
We all saw kogi try to usurp dangote abi una don forget?
See am. I never even talk finish you already talking about retaining 20%.
So they can be employing 20% cronies that will bring the whole thing down

How much were you paid to type this nonsense?
I am neither a civil servant nor a politician. So no payment from anyone to type anywhere!

Whatever it is it will be worth 1/10 of it's value now once BAT is done with Nigeria.
And if it is not may your earnings be cut short by 1/10 right?

The next keen investment competition I foresee is in the electricity sector the followed by the Agric, healthcare ,Real Estate and Education in that order .
I predict starting from mid this year onwards, both local and foreign investments will surge. The economic stability measures are taking effects and industrial players are closely watching. The future outlook is strongly positive.
Watch this space.
God bless Nigeria 💪

In 5 years Nigeria will have More refineries than the whole of Africa, lol!

It's like the business just became lucrative and everyone is interested.
The oil business use to be lucrative for politicians but now that the subsidy is off, it is lucrative for real business men and women.
The same thing will happen when electricity subsidy is removed

Dangote solely destroyed the subsidy scam in the sector, so it's not lucrative to import again. Our own government-owned refineries are now beginning to work or blend naphtha because it's not logical to import or keep them moribund for subsidy sake anymore. Tinubu removed subsidy and Dangote came on stream.
