The only way Canada can survive a tariff war is through massive borrowing in the short term as it would lead to an economic collapse, which would massively cut revenues and jobs.

There would be need to borrow to provide welfare for those who lose their jobs due to the trade war, and also to pump prime the economy.

There might be a need to slash corporate taxes to boost investment.

How can you say the economy of a country that was experiencing lack of human resources tanked after addressing the human resources problem by granting more people into the country? Is that not an irony? The truth is that immigrants have really helped Canada economy. You will know this by checking the economic indices before and after the immigration policies were put in place. Infact, someone was telling me some months ago that one big business in Canada (I think walmart, can't remember) use to close by 4pm because the white workers don't work after 4pm. Many white canadians are some of the laziest white people you will find on the planet.

Of course, immigration will have some negative effects. But to say Canada's economy tanked because of immigration, shows you don't know what you are saying. The economy of Canada is being built on the back of immigrants.

This is where Trudeau messed up;
1. Uncontrolled Indian migration. The Indians were beating the system and coming in large numbers. When they realized the fraud they are doing using LMIA, it was already too late.
2. There is a disconnect between the federal and provincial governments. Most of the problems that Canadians are complaining about fall within the purview of provincial govt; especially housing and transport.

Yes I understand you, without second thought, the dude just opened wide the Canadian boarders and mostly unskilled migrants trooped in, mostly Latinos and Indians while they have nothing tangible to offer to improve the economy than fake certificates and identity which leads to scarcity of jobs and housing.
