Popular Nigerian content creator Mark Angel has opened up about facing a tough year in 2024, revealing that he lost $3.7 million in forex trading and ended up drowning in debt.

In a post on Instagram on Sunday, Mark Angel described how this loss led to one of the darkest times in his life. He felt like everything was falling apart, his properties were taken by loan sharks, and the pressure of debt made him feel hopeless.

Mark also shared that while he was healing through therapy, another setback came, a scandal that shook his career and made him realize who his real friends were. He said the experience exposed fake friends and pretenders but also brought him closer to God, taught him invaluable lessons in resilience, faith, and the essence of divine grace.

He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his friends, family, pastor, ex-wife, daughters, and social media manager, who stood by him during the challenging period.

He wrote, “The year 2024 began like every other year, but I had no idea how much it would test me how much it would break me, yet ultimately reshape me. It was the year I lost everything. I trusted the wrong hands in forex and lost all my money. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle. The weight of the loss, over $3.7 million was suffocating. I was drowning in debts, and one by one, I watched all my properties slip into the hands of loan sharks. It felt like my world was crumbling, and in my darkest moments, I considered ending it all.

“But God… If not for His mercies, I wouldn’t be here writing this. He sent angels into my life when I needed them the most. Blessing, my friend who became family, never gave up on me. My pastor and his wife stood by me, praying and guiding me. My daughters, Victoria and Mila, reminded me of the beauty of life, even when it felt unbearable. My ex-wife Mandy extended a hand of kindness I will never forget. My son, Schoolboy, showed me strength beyond his years. And Bright, my social media assistant, stood as a pillar in moments I thought I’d collapse.

2024 was a year of loss to many.
I staked my full Salary on Real Madrid to either win or draw Milan but they lost 1-3, I nearly committed suicide that month cos it wasn't easy.
People also borrowed money from me and I touched my savings and emergency and lent 30k, 20k and other amounts of money but till date they all refused to refund or pay back.
This year I have promised to be very hard on myself.
The emilokan drug baron's administration isn't helping matters either, money doesn't have value anymore due to the cost of living..
The only achievement I made last year was just feeding myself, nothing tangible or meaningful achievement last year despite all the hustles.
Recently , I went to the market with 50k to purchase some cheap clothes but the money could only acquire a palms, sandals, belt, two boxers and one trousers.
If you're supporting this administration it will never be well with you and your generations.

Any investments that has high income volatility, I don't put my money in it. Such as forex, crypto, long-term stocks etc.

I realy thank God for his mercy and leadings. God is an expert in leading men, he multiplies your seeds, if you can work hard, and ready to grow funds organically.

He gives strange ideas as you grow into it, and covers you from errors.

But you must give portions to him, and be trained not to cheat men in your dealings.

He probably over leveraged his account. This kind of loss is not a one trade thing. It builds up over time. During that period, he was making profits and also losses. His net revenues was the loss. Moreover, you have no idea how he trades, where he trades or even where he got his dollars.
