Hello everyone, good day! Back in 2010/2011, Nairaland was a great help to me in finding the travel information I needed. Today, I want to give back by sharing my travel experiences here. I’ll be providing firsthand insights about the countries I’ve visited and lived in.

I’ve traveled to many places, but I’ll start with Greece. This is my third visit to Greece my first was in 2015, the second in 2018, and now today, January 6th, as I’ve just crossed the border into Greece from Varna, Bulgaria.

I consistently post travel content on my Facebook page, so feel free to follow along if you’d like to pick up a thing or two. I’ve explored a good number of EU countries and always share firsthand, reliable information.

The photo is me inside the train's restroom. I boarded the train at Varna Railway Station in Bulgaria, heading to Sofia, Bulgaria. From there, I took a bus to Athens, Greece. I'm still on my way to Athens; we crossed the Greek border about two hours ago and had a stopover in Thessaloniki.
Price of train ticket from Varna to Sofia is 36 BGN approx 18 euros, the journey lasted for about 8 hours.

Price of bus ticket from Sofia to Athens 60 Euros/120 BGN. Travel time approximately 11 hours.

I forgot to mention that there was no border check between Bulgaria and Greece due to the fact that Bulgaria joined the Schengen area earlier last year 2024.
So everywhere na salibo!

6:25am I arrived Athens, currently in a restaurant 600 meters away from my Airbnb to fill my pot belly.
Athens always disappoints, such an old city with ancient architecture, I love Budapest better.
And it (Athens) looks dirty always with homeless people everywhere..

Like Greece seriously need help, I don’t know how these people managed to be part of EU and Schengen area. They still have homeless people everywhere just the same way it was the last time I was here.. men this is just irritating.

Man there is need to declare state of emergency in Athens Greece, Bulgaria and Romania is heaven, you cannot in good faith put Greece in same sentence with Bulgaria and Romania.
And mind you I have lived both in Bulgaria and Romania, and I hold a Bulgarian citizenship.
Greece is not just cutting it for me, the streets are dirty, homeless people everywhere littering the city.
Man I don’t want to be sending pictures here, it looks that bad. People that are coming here for greener pasture, I am not seeing anything green about the pastures here!

Well I just got back from the National Archeological Museum here in Athens, it was so exciting for me really. I will post a video about this on my page on Facebook.
The entrance ticket for the Museum is 6 Euros for a day!

wow I have never heard of any Nigerian getting Bulgarian citizenship, it's mostly us, Canada, UK, Italy, Spain and etc. how many years did it take for you to get it.

It took me 10 years, got it like two years ago.
Well Bulgaria for me is like the new Nigeria 🇳🇬 I’ve come to love the country.
Bulgaria is actually a nice place to visit during the summer..very lovely place!

The minimum wage here is around 800 euros per month. I’ve seen adverts for unskilled labor positions in public spaces and on Facebook, including jobs in farming. However, I haven’t seen any Black people working in public places like in Holland. I’ve walked at least 10 kilometers since yesterday, and I haven’t come across any. So, yeah!

Would you advise I move over to Greece from Nigeria, work a little bit and then move to a better Schengen country. €800 minimum wage for unskilled is not bad.
But do you know if Greeks are racist to giving Africans jobs
Although I have been trying to get telecoms jobs from Nigeria which is my field and I know I need to leave Nigeria to start from somewhere.
