Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has forwarded a list of six (6) commissioner nominees to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The names of the commissioner designates were contained in a letter addressed to the speaker of the house by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Umar Musa khilor, dated 7th January.

The nominees include:
1. Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi
2. ⁠Dr. Paddy Iyamu
3. ⁠Hon. Paul Ohonbamu
4. ⁠Hon. Washington Osifo
5. ⁠Sir Lucky Eseigbe
6. ⁠Andrew Ijegbai

The nominees are expected to undergo screening on a later date to be determined by the PDP-dominated house of assembly.

Once confirmed, the nominees will assume roles in the State Executive Council to aid governance and policy implementation.

Edo State House of Assembly had in November 2024 confirmed two commissioner nominees including health and finance, and 20 special advisers for Gov. Okpebholo.

PROFILES

HON. PAUL NOSAYABA OHONBAMU
Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu is a seasoned legal professional of over three (3) decades. He is a distinguished Nigerian politician with a deep understanding of the complexities of Governance and a strong advocate of the welfare of the people, championing causes that promote their well-being and development.
He obtained his LL.B (Hons.) degree from the University of Benin, Benin City in 1992 and B.L from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos in 1993.
Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu was a Member of the Edo State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2015. While in the Legislature, he was the Minority Leader from 2007 - 2010, Deputy Speaker from 2010 - 2011, Chairman, House Committee on Tenders Board 2010 - 2011, Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, 2011-2013 and Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs 2013 - 2015. He was also a Member of the Edo State Executive Council between 2017 and 2020 where he served as the Commissioner for Information and Orientation.
He is currently the Senior Partner, Ohonbamu & Ohonbamu Law Firm (Equity Chambers).

DR. PADDY IYAMU
Dr. Paddy Iyamu obtained his first and second degrees (B.Sc and MBA) respectively in Business Administration from the prestigious University of Benin, Benin City. He also obtained a professional Diploma in Safety and Security Management from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. He is also a holder of Doctor of Science degree in Petroleum Resources from the European American University.
Dr. Paddy Iyamu is a Human Resource Management Consultant, Security Expert, Entrepreneur and Strategic Leader. As a renowned philanthropist, he has helped to champion the cause for a better Society.
With over fifteen (15) years of experience, Dr. Paddy Iyamu has excelled across the banking, marine, oil and gas sectors, significantly improving corporate security and crisis management operations. Until recently, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Gabbem Integrated Services Limited, a leading company that specializes in marine equipment and services.
He is currently the Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

SIR (DR.) LUCKY ESEIGBE
Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Esq. He obtained his LL.B and LL.M degrees respectively from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Until his recent appointment as the Managing Director of Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency, Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Esq., was a Legislative Aide, Legal Adviser and Consultant to notable Honourable Members of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2007 to November 2024.

HON. DR. WASHINGTON OSA OSIFO
Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo is an astute lawyer and politician of repute. He holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) Master of Law (LL.M) from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and B.L from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He also has a Master degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Benin, Benin City and a Doctorate degree in Comparative Politics and Development from the Igbinedion University, Okada.
He was a onetime Commissioner for Secondary, Technical and Tertiary Education (Ministry of Education) and Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources respectively in Edo State between May, 2013 and November, 2016. He was also a Member Elect, Uhunmwode State Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly between March, 2019 and June, 2023.
Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo is currently Principal Partner Grant and Cherry Partners (Law Office).

ANDREW IJEGBAI
Mr. Andrew Ijegbai is an environmental scientist and a successful business executive with extensive experience in environmental restoration, waste management and infrastructure development. With over two decades of professional experience, he has managed large-scale projects across the Niger Delta, focusing on community development and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Ijegbai holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Science from the University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt. He has also undergone a specialized training in sanitary landfill management and recycling in Texas, USA.
He is the Managing Director of Phantom Energy Group of Companies, leading projects in road construction, erosion control, and environmental services. He has worked as the Director of Operations at Phoenix Environmental Services, overseeing recycling and landfill projects in 150 communities and as the Operational Manager at Spill Respondence Nigeria Limited, handling hazardous waste management for major oil companies like Shell and Total.

BARR. MARIE OLABISI IDAOMI
Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi is a legal professional with notable experience in law, governance, and advocacy. Her expertise spans Corporate Law, Litigation, and Public Policy Development. She offers strategic counsel to organizations and individuals.
Barrister Idaomi holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma and a Master in Public Administration from the University of Benin, Benin City.
Barrister Marie Olabisi Idaomi has worked as a Managing Partner with Hedmee Limited, served as a Consultant to many International and Local Companies like Treehill Consultancy, United Kingdom and Linc Nigeria Limited.
