President Bola Tinubu has announced the division of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State, into six campuses with 1 in each geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

2. Osubi (South-South);

3. Ebonyi (Southeast);

4. Ilorin (North Central);

5. Yola (North-East); and

6. Zaria(North-West).

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) shared this development on Wednesday through its official X account.
“President Bola Tinubu has decided to split the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria–Kaduna State, into six campuses to ensure efficiency, national coverage, and smooth operations,” the post stated.

You would recall about a week ago, FG allocated a sum of N3.6bn in the budget proposal for the establishment of Aviation annexes in the six geo-political zones. This is not a coincidence, rather a deliberate efforts by Mr President to decentralize the operations equally among the regions. Much so is Mr Festus Keyamo deserving of an applause.

First of, under the APC Administration, the federal government has attracted to Jos, projects such as the Federal Medical Centre Wase, Federal Polytechnic Nyak, National Orthopedic Hospital, Jos, Nigerian Law School, Jos Campus, and Federal University of Education, Pankshin, among others.

Then again, I feel like leaders, specifically the Governors from each region would have agreed to the location among themselves.

In addition to the Aviation College in Ebonyi, Ebonyi also needs an Airforce Base. Another runway should be added to the dormant Ebonyi airport for airforce military activities.

This is because South East has no airforce base. Ebonyi is ripe for it as its airspace are largely free whereas Enugu is too congested, likewise Owerri airport is congested, and Anambra airport as well.

In addition to the Aviation college, Ebonyi needs an Airforce Base and a runway for their activities next to the Ebonyi airport.
