The relocation wave is surging with intensity. Landmark Group has boldly uprooted and shifted its entire operations. One can only hope that the dominant Niger Delta-owned banks and oil giants will seize the moment, relocating their headquarters—or at least a significant part of their operations—to Port Harcourt. Failure to act now risks leaving the region vulnerable to the next toxic chapter of political neglect and economic marginalization as the proverbial cock crows its timely warning.

Due to numerous inquiries in the thread.PH was part an parcel of the Eastern region. PH was originally developed to evacuate coal from Enugu. PH was originally called Igweocha.

They are absolutely losing their minds over a business that coughs up N10 Billion per year in taxes relocating to PH . Imagine the chaos if bigger players like Access Bank, UBA, Zenith Bank, Seplat, Nextoil, or even the Zinox Group decide to pack up and leave too. Lagos is living on borrowed time, and the clock is ticking.

Word on the street is that even Dangote is fed up with Lagos’ endless drama. Rumor has it he’s planning to move his main HQ to Abuja and rent out his Lagos office once it’s finished. If that happens, expect BUA to follow suit, and Lagos will finally settle into the role everyone’s been envisioning: the economic hub of Yoruba land and little more.
Ogbeni don drop beer palour gist?

Word on the street...🤣

You don ever see Dangote one-on-one for your life?

Lagos will continue to prosper even if they all relocate. I'm Igbo but I must tell you the truth, ain't no way PH will ever rival Lagos in economic size or opportunities. It could have been possible if we still had the old eastern region as a whole with Enugu being the regional capital and PH been the business epicentre as planned by Late Mike Okpara. If the foundation he layed was followed up to the letter, then Lagos would have been struggling to catch up with PH because the oil and gas activities and blossoming business activities from Aba all the way down to Port-harcourt would have been huge challenge for Lagos to catchup.
But atlas, the civil war, the Igbo phobia by other enthic groups in the eastern region took away all those potentials. Awolowo was smart enough to take advantage of that to foster Lagos as the economic standpoint where all things will emanate from. That's why everyone since the 70s had to migrate down to Lagos to seek job opportunities. The more population Lagos had, the bigger its market which was attractive for us all the Banks, Multi-nationals and other business to make Lagos their headquarters.
So my guy ain't no way PH will rival lagos, except there's no more Nigeria
Well said

Effects of abandoned property after the civil war made pH lose out from the mass migration to Lagos since 1970s and benefited the West so much.

I believe igbos should focus more on Developing the East.
I believe Gov Peter Mba is doing that with Enugu. He's working on 24 hours electricity soon and other stuffs

The East is attractive.
A Kenyan entrepreneur was talking how he spent Christmas and New Year in Enugu, and He was very impressed.

Many Africans are picking interest in Nigeria and when they visit places like Abuja, PH, Enugu etc they marvel that Nigeria have other interesting cities.
This is what our politicians should focus on. Africans are becoming much aware of our continent and better traveling will rise as more people are becoming aware.
That why I believe states like Rivers State are trying to attract this kind of investments.
So East should up there game

There might be a Truth to it because Alhaji was very frustrated after the debacle he had with the refinanery. He was even regretting it because ondo and later ogun where the first place he wanted to build the refinery.
Alhaji regretted putting that kind of whooping $20 billion dollar investment.
He felt he was sweet tongued into bringing that to Lagos.
So the drama after completing the refinery really unnerved him

So if he situated the refinery in his village, the Oil&Gas cabal would have left him alone?

Or which kain reasoning be dis?

Do you actually know what it means to invest $20 billion dollars?

How many of those kind of investments do we have in Africa. Buhari government was more lenient with him. So he had it easy.

He even said it during his issues with the refinanery debacle that he regretted it. He even said one of his dollar billionaire friends where laughing at him how he put such a whooping amount of money.
But one thing I respect Alhaji is that he's very patriotic because how many people on Earth can put that kind of money.

By the way I said ondo and Ogun state where the first place his researchers advised for citing the refinery to closer to crude/natural gas supply pipeline from Niger Delta

I never said anything about his village, rather the best place in citing the refinery

All because the FG engaged it's sovereign rights. The international laws guiding coastal rights is well.underatood, the beach is a public space that belongs to the FG, Landmark never and couldn't have ever bought the beach or the beach front because the state government doesn't have the right to sell it and they never did.

If he moves to PH best of luck to him, all this epistle to you dey write can't deduct from Lagos or any other state in Nigeria, a government must be ready to enforce rules anytime.

Lagos can't fail on the basis of some people leaving. A state where the leader are strategic woilt just collapse because some SE are erratic, what do you really think the Yoruba are lazy feckless people. Any vacuum would be filled.

Oja Eko ko mo pe enikan ko wa ( the Lagos market doesn't stop because of the absence of any person)

Oguta is best and potentially most lucrative. He should be wise except Rivers state government would be investing in his project, otherwise it's still potentially risky but better than toxic Lagos.

Anyone who is still investing in Lagos with all the bigotry and hate the bastard of iragbiji has entrenched, will have himself to blame.

They believe Lagos has arrived and thus they can mess with investors assets recklessly. But all it takes is awareness and people being intentional in staying away.

Real estate sector has already taken a hit there and that's why slums are appearing everywhere in Lagos.
Slums are appearing in Lagos ! That's a new one

Did the government tell you the document was missing?? How about the big banks and foreign companies that invested in landmark?? So the all didn’t do due diligence?
How about the lands with c of o been reallocated in Abuja? No documents too??
You poor today no mean say you go poor tomorrow, one day Nigeria will happen to you and we will ask you same question 😁😂
The land can't have been sold to him because it was never the property of the state. Everyone knows international coastal shoreline laws.

The same laws that apply in Lagos apply in Rivers as long as it is coastal shoreline it belongs to The FG and the state can't lease or sell it. So this could be FG compensation of some sort it would be beyond the remit of Rivers State

Pre colonial borders you say. Very good hope you know igbo pre colonial borders extends from Agbor in the west that is why we had Midwestern igbos, from Kogi/Nsukka axis in the North. And the Ndoki in cross river and Akwa Ibom.
Down to Ikwerre in the south.
Please let us go to our precolonial boundaries.
The first question you should ask the supposed SS is if they want to go with Biafra today. Let me know their answer

This same man who property was demolished in Lagos for the coastal highway. Why didnt he come to Rivers earlier. Hope they dont Bleep him up again.
It pains me to see how governments treat entrepreneurs like these.
The same law that applies in Lagos applies I. Rivers and any state. If the space is along the coastal shoreline he has to seek concession rights for the use of the space from FG not any state government.

This is the brutal truth: the so-called economic "giants" are just sitting ducks waiting for the tide to sweep them away. All it takes is a $1 billion shoe industry and market in Aba, another $1 billion manufacturing hub in Nnewi, the untapped tourism potential of Enugu, and a fully harnessed oil and gas industry in Imo and Anambra. That’s it — the death knell for the current status quo.

The South-East has the raw talent, resources, and resilience to execute this vision. With deliberate effort, strategic planning, and leadership that understands the urgency, this transformation can happen in less than 20 years. China and Korea turned their economies into powerhouses in a similar timeframe.

The warning is clear: the monopoly on wealth and economic dominance in this country is fragile. Shift just a fraction of the investments and infrastructure southward, and the tides will turn irreversibly.
And while you are doing this other would just sit idle and make no progress.

Why bring tribe into the equation, these guys moved to Lagos to thirve, they saw a market demand for a service they provided it, they paid taxes to the local authority in the state, provided employmenty and business opportunities there what is wrong with that.

The Land in question was acquired in 2006, If the state authorities informed him that there was a plan for a coastal highway there he would not have made the purchase. Its sad how you guys reduce everything to tribe, did BAT know he would be a president in 2006? Even if he nursed the ambition did he know he will win?
Landmark never bought the land on which the beach was located but rather the land adjacent.

The beach front and coast belongs to the FG, so he can't have paid for Lagos government for a property whish wasn't theirs to sell. I'd he did he needs to get his money back

Hold on, but can i ask you a question? Did you get F9 in English Language in Secondary school? Where did i mention Biafra in my comments? I am talking of precolonial igbo land that borders into SS and Middle belt.
Bro sense is running so hard to catch up with you, but the trouble is you are faster.

Very easy for your warped mind to stand logic on its head.

Try and buy one plot of land in those locations or a house and tell us how much it will cost you compared to that in your home town.

Banana island is now N3 billion per 1,000 sqm.

Just wait and watch, after PBAT's 8 years, I will ask you to reel out your stats again.

kettykin:
What GDP are you clinging to? Lagos is an economic graveyard. Telecommunications companies are bleeding to death. Manufacturing is are going with unsold inventory climbing to the roof, with breweries and pharmaceuticals rotting away. The aviation sector is on life support—only four airlines left, and even Tinubu’s First Nation couldn’t survive the carnage. Banks are staring into the abyss, one step from collapse. Malls, supermarkets, and eateries are gasping for air, crushed by diesel costs. Hotels? Reduced to desperate short-let hustles to stay afloat.

The city is dying, and apart from the Lekki axis, the rest of Lagos is an economic wasteland crawling toward oblivion.
Ask those in bariga. Ogba, iyana oworo, iyana oba, Abule egba , ikeja, gbagada, Anthony axis.

The only flicker of economic life in Lagos is in the Lekki axis—everything else is crumbling into ruin.

Can you mention the exact places where the so-called slums are appearing in Lagos.

I live in Lagos but I'm very sure you do not live here so I want you to tell me and other readers the locations of these new slums!
