Hi, can anyone advise on how much it costs to erect a fence wall for 1 plot of land. The builder is advising 6m to erect a fence wall for the front and reinforce the back wall as there's a little fence already there. See below quote;

Columns and beams: concrete 65 cu.m @119,000= 1,785,000
Block Wall 160 sq.m@ 15000= 2,400,000
Reinforcement for columns/beams 0.65 tonne @1,600= 1,024,000
Formwork for columns and beams 150 sq.m @6,200= 930,000

Is there a way to do fencing with another method that will reduce the cost.? Thanks

That's effect of damp. First thing is to identify the source and prevent reoccurrence.
Then apply a stabilizing solution to make the surface firm, then screed or apply putty repaint.

Another thing is where did you go to? Crushed Rock or Niger stones....Crushed rock may say one week but will bring it 2-3 days..

I do suspect it might be from lack of DPC.. Yes it is. Could also be external structural defects, such as blocked or damaged guttering, cracked downpipes, a leaky roof or cracked pointing.

In my opinion, either the walls are opposite bathroom and any place water is used or the paint outside doesn't have sufficient water resistant function that allows rain to be absorbed.

The normal crushed stones for German floor and foundation is what I bought, I booked on time I got it within 3 days, but na the transportation plus levy and permit gulped up to that amount.

So sorry for the late response, its dry land only the left side of the fence is a bit water logged. Its located in Redeem Ota

And I suspect, that is the issue in your Case

Flower beds. can be a major source of dampness especially if not done properly, from your attached image, i can see that your flower bed is open without flower yet, therefore rain water is collected there without proper draining.

Excessive moisture will be collected and retained at that point and later transfer to your foundation wall, from thence rising dampness start.

Flower beds in itself are not bad, but most of the time wrongly constructed, it goes beyond placing kerbs around the building and filling it with sand, flower beds too should have damp prove membrane, which at best should lap some inches of the exterior building wall.

Solution
Confirm if you placed damp prove membrane on the floor before filling your flower bed, if not, you should consider that.

Also If your building have a rain water collector at the roof, confirm that the down pipe is not been emptied in the flower bed area

I did the design myself but was away during construction.
The flower garden was flushed to the wall of the front facade, there are no other flower spaces close to the foundation wall at any other point.

I also think the roof cutter drains to that particular section you highlighted......do u suppose i excavate, put dpc and fill/cultivate or I should concrete that section entirely.
The gradient of the site is also good as I ensured water flows outwards optimally.

I missed the flower bed. I have mentioned it countless times here as part of reason for rising damp because the soil retains water long in contact with the building.
I did mention making the flower bed have cement floor and the wall and floor painted with waterproof paint before filling with soil to prevent direct contact with the building.
