I'm definitely having my Easter holidays in Enugu with my family! So much love what i'm seeing, and i'll show my little appreciation by patronizing the efforts with my small annual vacation budget. I'm hoping that others will do so too!

Enough has been fortunate to have vision leaders from the inception of this democracy dispensation just as Lagos.
I wish it was same in all the thirty - six states .

They had better take their time and do a world-class job! Not just to complete it to tick the box and say Hotel Presidential has been ‘renovated’! That hotel evokes fond memories in most Igbo and the finishing should be to world-class standards!

You see that Delta state, Gov. Sheriff is just a failure and the only thing he has achieved in his almost 2 years in office is the 2 flyovers in Warri, except that there is no meaningful work going on in the state.
As for River state, it will only take time, the people of state would soon know, who the real devil is between former Governor Woke and his successor.

Exactly! I feel that as a people, we’re just firing on one cylinder out of an available 15 or more! We all have to ensure we’ve done our own bit, no matter how small, to help galvanise the Igbo/south-east economy….Nigeria and its attendant wahala notwithstanding!

That was the style that was prevalent in the 60s! If you remember the film, they’re kinda similar in design to those Las Vegas hotels shown at the beginning of Goldfinger!

Look like you’re looking for something to complain about just for the sake of it! So you want the Enugu and Rivers state gov’ts to knock down their heritage hotels that have historical significance dating back decades and which hold sentimental value, just so they can replace them with ‘something new’!? You may as well ask New York to knock down the Waldorf Astoria or for London to knock down The Savoy or the Iconic Harrods in Knightsbridge, and replace them with modern and up-to-date structures lacking in soul, history and nostalgia!

In any case, the Enugu state gov’t is building a new high-end hotel (i hate using stars as there’s hardly any 5 -star hotel in Nigeria if we’re to be honest) next to the recently renovated conference centre. Hopefully, that will satiate your appetite for modern and up-to-date structures!

97% of the comments describes the mindset of an average Nigerian youth huh Meanwhile no one mentioned or discussed anything like the Governor's primary responsibility. Which is to focus on governance, public welfare, and the development of critical infrastructure that serves the collective good of the state.
In my opinion, engaging in ventures like building hotels, which are "private", profit-driven enterprises, not only distracts from his duties but also risks conflicts of interest that undermine public trust. Endeavors like this simply blur the lines between personal ambition and public service - fostering allegations of corruption or misuse of state resources. In real world or working system, the private sector is better suited to handle such ventures, and a Governor's role should be to create an enabling environment for private investors through transparent policies, infrastructure development, and security. By steering clear of personal business ventures, a Governor upholds the integrity of public office and ensures that their energy and resources are devoted solely to the service of the people. angry angry

Very, Very long way to go in this country.

Waste of resources. Enugu has enough hotels that there is no basis for govt investing in hotels. The money would have been better spent on health care, education, housing
