I think it all boils down to financial management

There are men earning less than 100k monthly with 2 or 3 children in this same wretched economy yet they're surviving

All that matters in life is living within your means else you can be earning N1m and still be living a miserable life
Financial management is key to living a comfortable life, regardless of the income. It's about prioritizing needs over wants, creating a budget, and sticking to it.

Those men earning less than ₦100,000 monthly with multiple children are indeed surviving, and that's a testament to their resourcefulness and financial management skills. They're likely making sacrifices and finding ways to stretch their limited income.

As you said, earning a high income doesn't guarantee a comfortable life. If someone is not managing their finances wisely, they can still struggle to make ends meet, regardless of their income. It's all about living within one's means and being mindful of spending habits.

Your statement "else you can be earning ₦1m and still be living a miserable life" is particularly insightful. It highlights the importance of financial literacy and responsible spending habits in achieving financial stability and happiness.

Whenever I remember that I only earn 35k monthly as a private sch teacher and the first Born of my family without parents, I feel like I'm a waste. Each time I want to pay my landlord his rent and I take out over 100k to pay, I instantly notice I am enslaving myself.
Nobody will perfectly understand how I feel.

You've spoken wisely bro

The economy isn't a friendly one but I noticed that those feeling it the most and those who rant all day about it are those who have refused to let go of their extravagant lifestyle. They still want to keep up with the old lifestyle on the same income and don't ever want to adjust their spending habit

Financial wisdom isn't something you learn from school. Some people naturally have it while some don't have it no matter how educated they seem

Sometimes, you see illiterates with good financial management than the so called educated people

Only if managed well, low expenditures and argumented by other sources of income.

Don't think u can ball on that unlike b4. u cant even save for a decent car on that anymore since the devaluation of the naira. u can get a good apartment in certain locations. It's still a fair income compared to many.

Delusional thread. Comments are so disconnected from the reality in Nigeria that you begin to wonder if these ones are living in an alternate universe.

In saner climes, if you're earning above minimum wage, you're considered relatively comfortable. Here in Nigeria, how much is the old minimum wage? How much is the new one Tinubu has refused to pay? Are they anywhere close to the amount the op quoted?

This is a country where less than 3% earns above 200k per month. Many bread winners even still earn below 100k and many others don't even earn anything at all.

Continue deceiving yourselves.

Draw out a budget and spend according to your budget.

And if you must date, go for someone with a reasonable income. Don't waste your time dating a liability.

There are people who earn between 150k-200k monthly, and they're still surviving..... the girl wey I dey date sef come from a comfortable home, she dey even give me money sometime self..

You'll be fine.

Not bad but as a man, you have to strive for about two to three streams of income at any given time. Save aggressively invest in a side hobby.

Expenditure will always rise to meet income no matter what you earn, so you might have to cut down on your expenses, no matter how necessary you think some of them are. Your current earning is someone else's dream salary.

Also, comfort is a very dangerous word ooo.

If you don't want your situation to get significantly worse, do not think to get married to a woman who does not make at least Naira 400K each month in this 2025(that amount is not guaranteed to be enough after this year). undecided

the people earning 200k do not feel comfortable, the people on 500-700k dont feel comfortable, there's a high chance u will dont feel comfortable if that pay is bumped to 1m.
Design a budget that supports your 500k-700k, learn contentment(not saying dont aspire/work for more) and stay happy

Expenditure does not have to rise to match your income. The mistake most people make is get a pay rise of 2m, then increase rent by 1m, increase children tuition by 1m, and many more. People should learn the real meaning of what they can afford and what they earn.
