Very selfish behaviour. She thinks this is bus park or something. Planes operate on strict schedules and even our airlines are notorious for not keeping to strict schedules and now her reckless actions has contributed to the already alarming flight cancellation statistics. They said her luggage's weight is not suitable for the plane's balance and she was still insisting, she want the devil to use her?
I would blame Ibom Air for this development. Why didn't the management and captain of the flight unboard that particular passenger on that flight and fly the remaining passengers to ensure timely delivery of passengers at their destination.

If they had done that, they would have only that passenger to compensate or refund or engage in litigation, not affecting everyone's flight. You can imagine the cost for those enroute Abuja to meet an appointment or board an international flight.

I want to blame the situation on Ibom Air. Most airline unboard unruly passengers, professionally, even with force when necessary. So why would Ibom Air allow this happen on that flight without taking the right decisions at the right time.

Sometimes you need your common sense to act on certain occasions to get more than what you want without stress

what a shame

Imagine missing ur international flight, which may result to missing other connecting flights because of this one, hmm..... shocked. They should have removed her and probably refunded her knowing that the airspace will be closed, than allowing her to misbehave then letting everyone else to suffer

NCAA and Ibom air una father.
Both of una na mumu una be, correct mumu.
Don't ever choose the few against the many.
Una cancel flight cuz of 1 person, no be juju be that?
Since she no wan leave her bags, just bring her down from the plane and refund her ticket and carry on with your flight.
Why you go decide to inconvenience many people for the sake of 1 person? Una dey reason sef?
No matter the charges or prison wey dat 1 passenger go face, its inconsequential as Ibom air don cast in the eyes of the many.
I no go fit gree fly Ibom Air if I dey on a schedule cuz I knowsay una no serious, same with Airpeace.
Mr. Keyamo, the best performing Minister in Tpain squad, I hopesay u see wetin dey happen for your area?

So her co-travellers wanted to lynch her or is this just additional
fiction account typical of Nigerian newspapers?
That said, why plead with the passenger, when she could be forcefully removed
and detained while the other passengers can carry on with their journey?

I doubt this is the full story especially the pleading part.

Airlines are generally not that nice even when at fault let alone when in the right.
I agree with you that this may not be the full story.

Even before opening the thread, I knew it must be a woman grin very emotional being…..she was not even considerate of other passengers on the flight just because of a luggage angry i support her being prosecuted, what nonsense.

Based on the story... I just imagined a few things:
1. The lady's response was ill-timed however this was birth from previous unsavory experience of delayed or maybe lost luggage.
2. Others were impacted due to this delay..
3. Those with connecting international flights, hope their luggage were part of the ones loaded? Otherwise, it would still have been futile if that plane departed.
4. Didn't the airline know the number of passengers and anticipated the luggage capacity of such numbers?
5. Was there any compensation in place for those whose luggage, including the lady, was to added to the next flight, which I presumed would be the next day?

A lot of questions

Do we blame the woman or we blame the airline? As for me, myself and I, we blame the airline for its incompetence. How can you allow one person to stop the movement of other people? In a saner clime, I'm not sure something like this would have happened. Now alot of persons have lost business deals, other emergencies they ought to have caught up with due to the airline not handling the matter amicably.
What do I even know sef aside enlightening my fellow men nationwide with the good news
Exactly

The situation should have been contained

How did a lone lady hold a whole plane hostage and the flight had to be cancelled?

She ought to have been forcefully removed long before the situation became that bad

Or was she more powerful than all their airport security? Or that no one summoned security? Or was there no timely security response?
Re: How Aggrieved Passenger Grounded Abuja-bound Aircraft, Left Travellers Stranded by dettolgel: 11:41am On Jan 12, 2025
The pilot and crew are also to be blamed. International protocol demands that such behaviour be reported immediately to security agents. The agents will take her away while pre flight protocol are performed again and the flight will carry on with few minutes delay.

It is noted that a delay of her luggage in the past was the reason for her action. But rationality is necessary in all circumstances. Whatever inconvenience that would have resulted from the luggage arrangement for this new trip is insignificant compared to what her anger has caused. It is said that he who angers you conquers you. It would have been better for her to release the flight and sue the airline for damages afterwards. Now, the airline that offended her first is now the victim and she is the guilty one. Just look at some of the serious damages caused by her indifference.

1.
Some people missed international flights.

2.
Some people missed important appointments within the country.

3.
The airline had to provide food, transportation and accommodation for the stranded passengers.
I swear brother.
Again, if she had an ugly experience last time, why did she choose the same airline?

Whatever happens to the option of throwing her out of the plane. I believe many passengers will be ready to pay for her seat, just so they can get to their destination that day.
