That's ANOTHER thing entirely.

He watches you suffer watching your child immersed in unbearable AGONY and he does NOTHING.

Instead he strokes his beards and tells you to TRUST that he LOVES you very much. And that he has a GOOD reason for abandoning your little child to die a SLOW and EXCRUCIATING death.

You are justified to say a father like that is DEAD to you, i.e does NOT exist.

The person you’re replying to never said that he was the one asking for a miracle. There are countless Cristians asking the Christian god for a miracle right now, and their prayers will not be answered. Some pray for healing, some pray for financial resuscitation, some pray for protection. And a lot of them will leave empty. Even worse is that, many of them, according to some Christian doctrines, will eventually go to hell for being born into the wrong denomination and praying to the wrong version of the true god.

This is not an attempt to defame or besmirch the reputation of your God, the argument of evil and suffering is simply pointing out that there is so much suffering in the world, that the entire basis of life itself is based on the suffering of one life in order to preserve another. Mosquitoes need our blood to survive, they feed on the most vulnerable and infect them with diseases, most times eventually killing them. There are insects that have to paralyze other animals, and feed on them alive, lay their eggs in them and make their children feed on the paralyzed animal until it dies. There’s also the Guinea worm, an organism whose whole purpose is to get into the eyes of human children and eat their eyes, painfully and slowly turning them blind.

Every kind of suffering and pain you can imagine, exists. This begs the question, Why? Why create all of this? For what purpose? This is not to make an argument that god exists and that he is evil, it just expresses that the belief in the theistic god is inconsistent with rationality and morality. Have you ever ask why such things happen? Or you’re only concerned about how these things haven’t happened to you or your family?

When you start asking the real questions, you find that believing in a god is utter insanity. The wars and genocides that have been motivated and encouraged by different religious dogmas. The hiddenness of god that is a major problem as it has caused every culture to create their own version of god and pass it down either through propaganda, oral recounting, or violence.

Nobody hate your god. Atheists just don’t care for it.

Being an atheist has nothing to do with being angry with God. If that's how you think, you don't understand what atheism is. Plenty of prosperous people are atheists, so making it out like atheists are just disgruntled people is utter drivel. I became an atheist as a 19-year-old 3rd year student in UNN and I was not angry with God and had no reason to be angry with God. I simply stumbled on literature that exposed me to humanist thinking and read Richard Dawkin's "The God Delusion" and it had a profound impact on me, and I understood I was indoctrinated since childhood into a delusion and system of control that is religion. This is like saying a former Catholic converted from Catholicism to Pentecostalism because he was angry with Mary for his misfortunes, or saying an ex-Muslim converted from Islam to Christianity because he was angry with Allah.

Also, your bar for what constitutes a miracle is pretty absurd. Getting a last-minute airline ticket is a miracle? grin

That has happened to me like thrice that I can remember since becoming an atheist. If you want to understand why Africa will remain the dark continent for eternity, you need look no further than the fact people here think that every mundane thing that happens in their lives is a "miracle". Our mentality has not even matured to the level of Europeans in the renaissance period hundreds of years ago. We're just zombified religious cultists. Tufiakwa.

The issue is that irrespective of the religion, an average Nigerian is hypocritical in nature. Just imagine a person praying for Nigeria to get better for all being among those who is corruptly enriching himself or herself at the detriment of the country and some of them even give to their religious organizations out of their proceeds of corruption!

When you see most Nigerians complaining about those in position of authority, it is because they are not able to benefit from those corrupt deals otherwise if than can, they won't complain but will call it smartness or Divine favor.

God has provided us with the resources we need to thrive. He designed humanity with the ability to make choices and entrusted us with the stewardship of the earth's resources.

If we could all embrace the principle of loving our neighbours as ourselves, we could create a better world for everyone. Much of the suffering we see today stems from human greed and wickedness.

So how come yhwh says we should call on him and he'll answer us? I don't think he said "don't call on me, I have given you all u need to survive. Leave me alone"

Exactly. That his/her friend was just angry with "God." The way I describe being an atheist to people is by using the example of the movie, Wizard of Oz. Dorothy, the tin man, the scarecrow, and the lion believed there was a great wizard in Oz. So they traveled to see the wizard. While there, listening to the thunderous voice of the Wizard, Dorothy's little dog pulled the curtain, and it was revealed that the Wizard of Oz was just a man behind the curtain, using an instrument to appear grand to the people. Dorothy and her friend, after seeing this, could never go back to believing in the "great Wizard of Oz."

They went on a journey of enlightenment, and discovered the truth. This is how many real atheist discover the truth. In my own case, I decided to read the whole bible from front to back while bored (and nobless) after NYSC. I discovered so many inconsistencies, and decided to study other religions, and soiritualities. I embarked on my journey of enlightenment and discovered the truth. You don't become an atheist because you're angry with your sky daddy.

Finally, Paul helps us the see the magnitude of the Blessings of God for His Children by the verse

"But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him."

Did Jesus ever tell people that His kingdom is of this world?
