Most of them in the control room are Process and instrumentation Engineers, branches of Chemical Engineering.

Process Engineer

Instrumentation Engineer

I have worked in the refinery before. So, we know about all these.

Those in the control rooms are different from those that work inside the plant.

Those in the plant which are majorly Chemical Engineers can communicate with the process & instrumentation Engineers in the control room to turn off a particular pressure valve and they will do just that right from the control room. They don't need to go and turn it off manually if they don't want to.

They can also be communicated to, to turn on a particular process line if they sense any malfunctioning and direct a particular fluid through another process line.

Omo, Chemical Engineering is interesting.

Is not about wedar rome wasn't built in a day or not. The main fact is, are we seeing any effort about them(Nigeria leaders) building rome? The answer is NO!

North Africa has left us behind. Even ivory coast!

Search online, what Saudi used to monitor and track movement of their oil is massive and fantastic, I once watch it online.

I bet you never see any digitalized control room other than in action movies.

A lot of censors and systems are being monitored concurrently. So in my view, that CCR is not even sophisticated enough for 2million barrels/day. There should be a censor that automatically and continuously ring the President's phone whenever our oil is been stolen.

I'd expect what Saudi uses to monitor its almost 12 billion barrels of crude oil production to indeed be massive and fantastic, and perhaps that's what we are building up to.

In the engineering forum. We asked you guys stop making noise on this. It’s embarrassing.

This is shit. Low and common. Any engineering team or department will do this.

Stop making noise on simple technology.

This is like creating a touch light and hyping it.

I know it is better late than never. But nnpc should look at small Saudi aramco way dem senior

Our president, in my opinion, should not be sitting in front of computers monitoring 2 million barrels of crude oil a day except in a poor nation like ours, I guess. 2 million barrels a day is a tiny amount for a country as huge as Nigeria.

Dangote probably has a more sophisticated monitoring system in his refinery, and he probably does not sit there waiting for disruptions to ring on his phone.

They should make it clear from now that are ONLY monitoring their own (NNPC LIMITED) production and not that of the whole country.

NNPC Limited should be transparent and report things as it is. They confuse the Nigerian public and creating the wrong impression that they are a Government Regulatory Agency. They are not! THEY ARE NOT THE REGULATORS OF THE INDUSTRY AND THEY WILL NEVER BE. They are not even the ones that determine the pump price of petroleum in a regulated market. National Production Volumes are monitored by the NUPRC (Formerly DPR).

I laud their efforts though as it is very commendable. Hopefully, it yields proper crude oil production accounting and economics.

You should know that the line on President was put there to drive home my point. The more untrustworthy and corrupt the people becomes, the more layers of monitoring that may be required. If I were the President, I probably would have a secondary and superior different policing system that will oversee NNPC system.

In Risk management, there's no limit to barriers/control measures to use provided the final output lowers or prevents the envisaged "topmost" event.
